Mazda 323 1600cc Year 2001: Q on RPM

Im driving a mazda 323 Auto and my rpm meter reads 2.2k at 80km/hr and close to 3.0k when im travelling at 100km/hr, izzit normal?
Please advice me

think its normal. also had the same reading for my Mazda 323 Protege Auto. dun worry.

but i got another qn, when idle at traffic lights and at D-mode, does your rpm hovers at around 800rpm and have the tendency to drop to 400rpm occasionally and the car vibrates???
my sister saw this and she commented that normal should be >1000rpm at idle... is this normal then??? -
mine hovers around 1000 rpm when idle and at D mode. But dont think it ever reach 400 that low. I am no mechanic, but think perhaps you should check with the workshop.Originally posted by rumie:mine too..

mine is around 800 rpm when idle in D-mode, itz reali weird if itz around 1000 for urs. anyway, mine do vibrate slightly in intervals when idling in fornt of traffic lights

you should try accerating the car to the redline as there is more power in it in redline.

Mine do have more violent vibrations at times too during idling cos the RPM drops too low... Will be letting the workshop know when i send it for servicing next week cos it means that the power distribution has not been properly configurated

anyway, how long do you people service your car? my last servicing was 15000km... now it's almost 32000km... haha... i'm killing my car~! -
always a good practice to service ur car if u really travel alot, better safe than sorry, i experienced once in ipoh malaysia, my car broke down due to engine overhead due to engine cooling system failure and i spent almost RM$1200 for the repair there in m'sia.
