alternator problem .... need advise

  lately notice that my battery indication had lighted up, hence went for a check and changed a new battery. after that, the problem still exist, and was later told that the alternator problem.
  
  anyway, the battery indicator usually light up in the morning and halfway thru the journey it will goes off. does this mean that it is still partially working?? how long can i still drive the car without repairing it? also will there be a possibilties that the car blackout in the mid of the road while driving? someone advise me that as long as u can start the car ... its safe to drive.

  Hmm ....its better to get it fix ASAP... last time while i was driving in my H100 van at night around 7PM.. my head lights, air con and radio all become very weak and eventually total black in just a few minutes.... luckly it was still not very dark and i manage to reach the workshop before it closes....but the moment i turn off the engine it never start again.. and later it found out to be the alternator that is giving the problem.......Shit

  the servicing will cost me abt $980 as quoted at autobac. im planning to trade-in this 6yr old car for a new car ... hence still holding on (& praying hard) that the car don't breakdown too soon.

  don't go autobac. their prices kill ppl set fire one.

  Where you stay?
  My father-in -law, had a workshop in that repairs alternator. Quite sure to be half the price autobac charges you.
