Here is my advice:Originally posted by rumie:a lot of my collegues do that, and they say even if they top up with the best petrol and at full tank, the cost can be half only or at most 3/4 of the price in singapore.
i wanted to do that, but a bit scared because:
a. i heard a lot of stories about drivers being mugged over there (no offence to the malaysian friends out there).
b. dunno exactly which petrol station in JB is the nearest and the best.
c. dunno how to get to those specific station.
d. driving over there is different, right? the signs and traffic lights and everything.. correct me if i'm wrong.
e. crossing the causeway seems really complicated, you need to make sure your petrol tank is at least 3/4 full or something, right? or something else...
anybody here can advice me on this matter??? i'm just a typical broke guy trying to save some money...
how much can u save if ur tank is already 3/4?? 3/4 go in at most slightly more that half when u reach the station.....Originally posted by rumie:a lot of my collegues do that, and they say even if they top up with the best petrol and at full tank, the cost can be half only or at most 3/4 of the price in singapore.

YaYa, quite true, travel into JB wif a S'pore plate could be dangerous, not only at night, even daytime too, been reading too much of those robbery news lately.... better dun, itz not worth it, even me myself has avoided travelling into JBOriginally posted by Si|verGa|:i think the best is to go dat in ur fren's car 1st n experience it.. den u make the decision whether to go anot..
btw u oso need to knw wic petrol stn to go coz msia can be real dangerous esp in nitetime.
......... If you are truly unsure about the conditions, please dun go. Firstly, you must know the area very well so as to know where to park and where are the danger spots i.e. where muggers are likely to appear. Looking at your situation, no offence but i dun think you have the slightest idea what you are up against. If you really want to do it, go with someone who is seasoned with the conditions over there for several times before attempting it yourself (even then, it's dangerous and not worth it). Plus 3/4 tank go in, how much can you save? Minus the hassles at customs (unless you know where it's jam-free), the time spent travelling, the efforts of travelling, the petrol you spent going there and the dangers you will be facing, not worth it lor. (Unless you, like me, live ultra near the checkpointOriginally posted by rumie:a lot of my collegues do that, and they say even if they top up with the best petrol and at full tank, the cost can be half only or at most 3/4 of the price in singapore.
