Hi....Originally posted by holding:actually notice Kelisa was reviewed in this mth Wheels mag; Picanto in this mth Motoring mag...
No time to read though.
Hi, actually I have written a long page on my views, but I have decided not to post it, so as not to bring offence to anyone in the forum. But I have this to say, when I buy a car, I dun buy with the mindset that repairs costs will be cheaper or the car can be towed back to the place of origin in an event of a severe accident. Buying a car is very much of a personal preference. You have to test drive both the cars in order to know. I have done so and have made my choice. By the way, for the manual version, the 1.1 litre Picanto costs S$1,000 more than a 1 litre Kelisa.Originally posted by holding:This forum has probably the most no. of pages for Picanto & Kelisa!!!
If have a choice to choose between the 2 cars, besides the price issue (which I think Kelisa is slightly cheaper - dun include all the gifts prize), which car is better???
Very subjective, I know...Have your views, pls...
thks.
1.5 yr old Vios 1.5E manual can get for under $53K. With some bargaining even lowerOriginally posted by zenixth:Hi Saab95,
How much does a 1.5yr old Toyota VIOS or Corolla cost?
Just curious on why you gave up on the Getz after one year? Kindly enlighten. Thank you
In case the picanto and kelisa gang want to hantam me for my opinion...I have nothing against Korean Cars....I owned a GETZ for 1 year before getting my new ride, neither japanese or Korean. It is just that I do not think the Picanto and Kelisa are value for money.

you are one lucky fella earning alot .... i am denting my bank account every month for my sunny i currently having .... though of down grading to a Getz, passo, Sicon Xb, kelisa or picanto .... my car only 1.5 years old clocked about 100km on the odo already to date ...i heard that is harder to sell the car if the mileage is high ....Originally posted by saab95:I did like my little GETZ, contary to what Korean Car Bashers say, the GETZ handles very well, a bit like a go kart. Engine is not bad for a 1.3 litre....never mind the SOHC 12V. I even took it up to 1) Penang, 2) K.L and 3) Terenganu. I was very satisfied with the car and the insurance and road tax never made me lose sleep.
It was in no part the car's fault, chocked up 40,000 in one year. Actually, it was because I had been 'playing' with cars all along....my dad's the sponsor. The likes of which are the A6 2.8 turbo quarttro, Saab 9000 Aero, Volvo S60 T5 and Galant VR4. So sad, all those cars are now gone, he bought himself a Lexus and Camry 2.4. Very Boring. Because I wanted to be self sufficient for my first car, I bought something that would not dent my bank balance. The GETZ with it chic european design and kart like handling fitted my bill then.
Well, since I stinged abit for the past year, I figured I could afford something that could better satisfy my need for go. So now that I can afford it, I bought something a little more ambitious.......was gunning for Evo8....but GF said too beng & I beng alreadi as she claims. So I bought myself a SAAB95 instead. With an ECU upgrade~$1600 & 220 BHP it is now fast enough for me....but if given a choice, it will still be an Evo8MR.
what about manual?Originally posted by saab95:Fuel consumption for the auto ain't that good. If you go easy on the pedal, probably 12km per litre. But change to alloys (standard steel rims are too flexy) and the handling is actually quite good.
Yes, because of my high milage the selling price was quite low. If you can get a second hand 1 year old model, u probably be lookinh at about $43000 with auto.
If you are to ask me and honestly to tell you, kelisa is obviously is not value for money. Yes it is not value for $ but at least it is proven reliable (by Daihatsu, Japan) and cheap (by Perodua, Malaysia). So what can I say?Originally posted by saab95:In case the picanto and kelisa gang want to hantam me for my opinion...I have nothing against Korean Cars....I owned a GETZ for 1 year before getting my new ride, neither japanese or Korean. Cheap to Play, Cheap to Maintain, Cheap to Repair, Cheap to Sell.....
Aiya.....only cheap people pay cheap car la....hahaha.....
I'm just kidding lah....playing a vivio is more expensive than kelisa! Thats the major and obvious difference.Originally posted by saab95:Cheap car does not equate to cheap people.
Sure, will look out for you guys!Originally posted by saab95:Ahh if u got lobang for cheap GETZ parts in Malaysia, I think the folks at getzclub would be most interested.
Actually, I sold my GETZ in March this year for something else......wonder who the lucky fella who bought my yellow GETZ, came with MOMO steering wheel, sport rims & some go fast bits under the bonnet....
Got something a 'little' thirstier
Honestly, if i have extra cash.....VIOS is one of my choices....Originally posted by lufu:interior of this Kelisa looks very much like my bro's 10yrs old daihatsu. Filmsy and cheap. Exterior look its no where near Picanto.
But value for money and availability of cheap parts might offset these. After all its personal preference.
If I were to choose, I would drive a 2-yrs old VIOS with full bodykit than a Kelisa. Personal preference, no offence to anyone
Yes Saab95, you are right. It is definitely a matter of preferences and priorities. With what I am earning, I could have my choice of Mercedes, BMWs or Saab if I want to. But based on my preferences and priority, I actually chose a Kia. Probably I just feel good having a new car to drive and at the same time, having extra cash in my pocket. Do you know that our Minister of State, (Ministry of Education and Ministry of Community Development and Sports), and Member of Parliament (Joo Chiat), Mr Chan Soo Sen, actually drives a previous model of the Nissan March that is at least more than 6 years old. He is certainly not cheap.Originally posted by saab95:Dude,
Cheap car does not equate to cheap people. As u said it is a matter of preferences and priorities. I must say u are one of the objective ones around. Whatever car u drive, I am sure u will customise until it becomes serious eye candyGood luck with the repairs and see u on the road ASAP.
