Wanna share somethin wif u guys... Saw tis article in a mag...
Few would disagree tat there are a ot more things to squander money on than a parking lot. Tat's wat u do if u don't watch where u park. The difference in parkin rates can be positively staggering, even btw adjacent carparks.
One thing noticed is tast parkin lots may be located next to each to each other but their rates may be miles apart. For instance, a three and a half hour can cost u $3.50 at Anguilla Park (The big public carpark across the road from Borders), $8 at Wheellock palce, or $12 at the Hlton.
To simply things, we start wif quickie parkin. The places tat charge the least for an hour of parkin down Orchard Road are Anguillia Park ($1), Center pt ($1), Shaw Centre ($1.05), Lucky plaza ($1.20), and Orchard pt ($1).
The most expensive? Tat dubious honour goes to Hilton Hotel, $3 per hour. Same applies to Meritus Mandarian - $3 per hour, $2 thereafter and Orchard Parade Hotel $2.50 first hour, $3 per additional hour.
The only hotel along Orchard road wif affordable parkin rates is the Le Meridien at $1 per hour.
Pricer by the hour:
Stay over n hour and all bets are gone. which means the same parkin lot tat reads u for a 45mins stay can turn nasty if u over stay.
Center pt: $1 first hour, every sub half hour - $1.20.
Pay attention to the "x dollars per half hour or partof' clause. Wat tis indicates is the rate u pay per time block...
Tangs: offer by the min charges at $0.04 for the first half hour, $0.03 for each additonal min thereafter. U pay for only parkin tat u use.
Across the road at Ngee Ann city: $0.30 per block of 15mins and no min stay.
Both would be recommended for short stays or stays up to few hours.
If expected to stay longer than 3.5hrs, the more economical places to leave ur car is:
Anguillia Park - $3.50
Ngee Ann city - $ 4.20
Orchard Pt - $3.50
Le Meridien - $ 3.50
More than 5 hours:
Orchard Towers - $5 day parkin
If leavein ur car for half a day or longe, headin for hotel makes sense. But only if u use the velet service. Valet parkin at the major five star hotels cost $5, n if u factor in a $2 tips, it works out to $7 in parkin. Which isn't too bad considering u don have to waste time n energy lookin for a parkin lot and u get the top-nothc security tat hotels ofer.
Per entry:
Findin cheap pakin after office hours can be jus as tricky. After 5p.m, a different set of rules comes into play. Tis is the time when private car parks n hotels switch to per entry mode, and public carparks go from $2 per hour to $1 per hour.
Best place to park ur car after office hours:
Liat towers $2 after 6p.m
Far east shoppin centre $2.10 after 5pm
Palais Renaissance $2 after 5 pm
Tanglin shoppin center $2.14 after 6pm
United house $2 after 5 pm
Le Meridien $2 after 5 pm
Orchard pt $2.50 per entry isn't the cheapest but tat rate kicks in at 4pm instead of the more common 5pm or 6 pm.
Carparks to avoid:
The most ex place to park after hours is ironically one of the cheaper places to park durin the day" Center pt
- Levies a $1 charge for 1st hour
- $1.20 for sub hour after 6pm
Compared to $2 per entry at Le Meridien at $2.50 at Orchard pt.
