how to better save fuel consumstion on Nissan Sunny 1.5l MT?

i have been drivng my dad's Nissan Sunny 1.5L MT. but when ever i go out at nite, i will need to pump $10 running from west to east then back.. but how to better save fuel?? any ways in driving techniques?? i only change my gears when my rpm reachs abt 2500 to 2800rmp.. i usually dun hit 3000rpm then change gear.. but still it uses up alot of fuel..
just last nite went out with friends, 5 of them.. 4 squeeze behind, when reach boat quay, frm 1/4 tank to almost Empty liao... damn sianz... need to pump again.. izzit the heavier the vehicle the more fuel consumstion??
izzit nissan cars consume more fuel then toyota cars??
saw the newspaper sometime ago tt there was this guy drive frm singapore to genting and back on one full-tank. wonder how he did tt?
anyone got any exprience to share? -
nisan sunny manual should be able to do 12-13km/lit, try to shift gear around 2500rpm rather than dragging it further, oso, same for those heavy footer who always drive around 100km/h, btw, what is the average speed u do on the xpressway huh? try not to accerelate too much, check your spark plugs and tyre air pressure, all this and that would affect significantly on FC

for my Sunny 1.5auto ... maybe you haven't change your air sensor when nissan recalled the cars?

my avg speed on expressway is only 100km/hr.. anyway the limit in singpaore only 90km/hr. me new driver dun dare to exceed too much.. but kinda sainz when infornt no cars at nite in xpressway.. the kinda feeling of wanting to floor the accelerator but scared kana catch..
i ever tried driving my friend's corolla frm clementi to changi v.. the meter doesn't move at all sia.. dunnoe how it function.. -
Bro, tat 'ang moh' you were talking abt travelled to and fro SG n Genting in 1 full tank still got 8litre of fuel left when he reach SG. He's driving a Subaru impreza. But hor... ppl travel at ard 80km/h. Then gotta siam heavy traffic during peak hours.
Btw, 1/4tank sometimes not very accurate. Try using the km/litre and do your math. If you get 10-13km/litre still consider ok. Another thing if you travel with more passenger, you'll have higher FC. -
Try doing an engine flush to fludge out the gum & sludge. Use Castrol Syntron Synthetic.....found this low viscosity engine oil to reduce drag on lower bhp engines....better for fuel consumption too.
Change to K&N filter and get a set of Iridium Spark Plugs. Normally, this will give you preceptible improvements in FC and a little improvement is engine response while not costing a bomb as opposed to voltage stabilisers, fuel magnets.....frankly the cost alone for such contraptions would eat into many, many years of eventual fuel savings. -

Heard also that he is trying another trip soon,from start of the NS highway to thailand on 1 tank. Dunno whether does it include coming back.....
