Yep apart from the purchase price, this is comparable with my car.Originally posted by Rexdriver:$107k purchase price
$3,300 insurance premium (no NCD, age 31)
$65 - $120 per week on fuel (and that's at the 7% discount stations, before the recent bloody increase in petrol price)
Sound system, body kit, forged rims, and mods can easily put you out of pocket another $10k or more. And there's a lot to mod...
But it is a very comfy ride (stock), astoundingly good around bends, and right-here-right-now braking too. It's ALWAYS a joy to go driving - better than playing a console driving game imo.

Seems like from one extreme to another.Originally posted by no_speeding:$44.15 liao...

Frankly, even if u earn 6K, u should be thinking about cars like toyota corolla or sunny...
For the record,
PM is driving honda accord and my boss who earns 1/4 of a million last year in pay only (excluding bonus) drives a sunny...
So, if u think driving a merc or wrx means that the person is rich, it most prob means that he has no financial sense...![]()
Some truth in what u say here. But to say ppl got no finiancial sense is going abit too far. If u got the $$$, I really do not see why notOriginally posted by no_speeding:$44.15 liao...

My ball's balls drive a SAAB convertible. those darn old ones which i seriously think is damn ugly... think the plate is early SC*.Originally posted by LLukeShen:Seems like from one extreme to another.
PM can afford Ferrari. But what do you think of him if he really drive one?
Your boss drive a sunny... mmm... you may look at what your boss' boss drive. Maybe just a camry. How dare your boss to buy a Merc? Sometime, what car people buy is not just financial reason.
Just to be curious, your boss drive a sunny, what are you driving?
Since you are now here, even though you are not driving, it won't last for long, I guess. Why don't start to persuade your boss to upgrade his car and then you can have more options to select when your time comes.Originally posted by no_speeding:My ball's balls drive a SABB convertible. those darn old ones which i seriously think is damn ugly... think the plate is early SC*.

Frankly, i would love to drive a fanciful car too..Originally posted by jnohc:well actually i think it just depends on what u want more. Some ppl are just not interested in cars n to them any car would do.But to some others, like most ppl in the forum, who r very much interested in cars. They may spend more of their income on their cars. Its really very much up to the individual isnt it?Some ppl who earn 6 k a month may be spending 5 k a month on gambling?or on his dream house?or toys?Etc.My point is that its really very much up to the individual's preferences, needs and wants and not his financial sense.
hahah...i used to drive..Originally posted by LLukeShen:Since you are now here, even though you are not driving, it won't last for long, I guess. Why don't start to persuade your boss to upgrade his car and then you can have more options to select when your time comes.![]()
Wah....in such cases, very siong. Not wat I had in mind. Always house settle first then car.Originally posted by nextreal:Actually most people CAN afford a car so long they have a regular income. It's their priorities that made them unable to commit to a car.
I'm with the RSAF and there are many junior specialists who spends 80 - 90% of their take-home pay ($1500 - $2500 depending on qualifications) on their car.
Just go to Air Force School's car park on a weekday and look at all the WRXs, Vios, 206s, Civics... They belong to the specialists. The senior officers drive 5 year old cars.
Heck, in fact, there are many in my squadron who bought new cars, spend all their fortune and save nothing every month. When they are nearing their wedding / HDB, they sell their car resulting in a loss. Then they regret.

Must be those half-past six half-bakesOriginally posted by Larry:Reminds me of one which cut into my lane this afternoon without signalling. I highbeamed at the driver, and he started to slow down and slammed his brakes, hoping to "frighten" me. Too bad I was used to such childish antics and I took defensive measure first by slowing down.
I was wondering if the next WRX to crash would be that chap. Maybe I might read it off the papers next week.
