jackson supercharger? u mean TTE right? it was featured in Hot Stuff. LTA approved.Originally posted by saab95:Well, my dad drives "The Barge" aka LS430 as Heng@ always puts it. Actually Lexus was voted the most dependable luxury car make in the USA.....just wack in the key words in google and u will see what i meanSo rest assured ur experience with the IS200 should be trouble free......most of the other lexus owners I know say it is a toyota in terms of reliability.
Lexus engines in cluding the IS 200 are quite fuel efficient as long as you don't ram.....as applies to any other engine. Under-powered? With 150hp It does have a power to weight ratio slightly better than the Camry 2.4 which has more than acceptable performance for a family sedan.
IS200 is also a competent handler.....don't think u will be dissappointed here. Actually test drove it....in the handling department it is hard to fault it....in the rush part.....let's just say it has more than sufficient for Singapore roads. A significant difference from your MRS though
If you consider modding......there is a lexus IS200 which has a jackson supercharger installed with LTA approval, car was featured in a local publication....saw it at tremendouz shine....just can't remember the title. Think it has more than 200 hp at the crank. Owner got the necessary paperwork done as per LTA requirement and of course Bornoe Motors will have to certify the supercharger can be safetly installed in the IS......that is the tricky part but somehow the owner got it doneU may want to try this to get yourself a IS200 on steriods. Modifcation costs? Better put aside about $10K at least.
Good engine oil to use is the Mobile 1 syn....gold colour bottle one. Do change your autotransmission oil every 20,000 to 30,000 km depending on the traffic u normally encounter. Alot of city driving? If so....20,000 is recommended.
Uh.......not on the barge or ES300 for that matter. But in the IS200 the intitial pick-up note is a little raspier. Idle speed should be around 700+ rpm....too low could also result in some vibration.Originally posted by eric3417:Thanks a lot Saab95. Appreciate your info.
Is it normal to feel some engine noise at 1st gear / low speed below 40km?
Slight exterior sound at cruising? Normal? Additional Sound Insulation ok?
By the way any difference between the IS200 & the IS200 sports version?![]()
Wow, Didnt know abt that though. Looks like there r both SuperCharger & Turbo-Charger available(LTA Compliant). Great News but the Mod costing 10-15k is quite hard to stomache leh..... Tink after the mOD petrol Consumption would go down to say 7-8km/l or worse?Originally posted by tennizbal:I hope its not too late for replies...
Yes thats right, according to Saab95, the only difference is the exterior, i.e. full body skirtings, bigger exhaust pipe, metallic pads, etc.
Otherwise, engine specs. are the same.
Anyway, anyone out there into tuning the IS200? Yes I'm talking abt the LEXUS version only please.
I've been to quite a few places but sadly they don't fit in this car.
However, I like to share something to those who may not have notice.
Notice there's a big spacious space on the left hand side of the engine? Looks weird?? Not at all, this space is meant for a TurBo Charger. Heard it's quite difficult to find this item and the best thing is it's LTA approved. Price wise...should range not more than S$15k.
I appreciate if anyone can provide useful information. Thanks !![]()
I sold my MRS at the region of 7.5k/yr Dep to a Dealer. Nice guy.Originally posted by xRaYx:hey eric, how much did u sell ur mr-s? btw, i would like to ask where did you get ur car? borneo motors? and how much to maintain it/mth. thanks alot

Originally posted by LCL:There are 2 variants to this model. The IS200 Lexus (rebadged) or the RS200 (Altezza).
The Toyota Altezza is the Japanese variant of the European Lexus IS200.
In Japan, the car is produced in two forms,
The Inline-6 DOHC 24v VVT AS200, and the more powerful RS200 - with an inline-4 DOHC 16v VVTi engine
The European market (including the UK) was not offered the more powerful RS200 variant, settling instead upon the Lexus badged IS200 - with the same I-6 (Inline 6 cylinder) engine and a set range of packs e.g. S, SE and Sport.
The Toyota Altezza RS200 is available in Japan and as a UK import in both manual and automatic form, with the 6 speed manual pushing out 210bhp and the 5 speed auto box with e-shift gears close behind with 200bhp. The RS200 is the more sought after and therefore more expensive car of the two
I am not 2 sure if u wanna buy the car or just chalking up posting.
Anyway, for more information, you can go to their forum at http://forums.delphiforums.com/sgac/start
TKS FOR YOUT INFO. i've already bought a 2nd hand ride and had been drivin it for a mth plus already.
I went for the Lexus IS200 mainly due to the smooth S6 engine, accessories, badging etc. Power is not too much a issue for me as we ae living in a country full of restrictions.
