My MRS sold liaoz loh. Tuesday have to give Car. Now still drivin for 1 more day. Abit sad leh....... By the way Heng, can give me some useful comments / advice / feedbacks on the IS 200? I know of the High FC & Under-Power stuffs but any other i need to know?

Well, my dad drives "The Barge" aka LS430 as Heng@ always puts it. So rest assured ur experience with the IS200 should be trouble free......most of the other lexus owners I know say it is a toyota in terms of reliability.
Lexus engines in cluding the IS 200 are quite fuel efficient as long as you don't ram.....as applies to any other engine. Under-powered? With 150hp It does have a power to weight ratio slightly better than the Camry 2.4 which has more than acceptable performance for a family sedan.
IS200 is also a competent handler.....don't think u will be dissappointed here. Actually test drove it....in the handling department it is hard to fault it....in the rush part.....let's just say it has more than sufficient for Singapore roads. A significant difference from your MRS though
If you consider modding......there is a lexus IS200 which has a jackson supercharger installed with LTA approval, car was featured in a local publication....saw it at tremendouz shine....just can't remember the title. Think it has more than 200 hp at the crank. Owner got the necessary paperwork done as per LTA requirement and of course Bornoe Motors will have to certify the supercharger can be safetly installed in the IS......that is the tricky part but somehow the owner got it done
U may want to try this to get yourself a IS200 on steriods. Modifcation costs? Better put aside about $10K at least.
Good engine oil to use is the Mobile 1 syn....gold colour bottle one. Do change your autotransmission oil every 20,000 to 30,000 km depending on the traffic u normally encounter. Alot of city driving? If so....20,000 is recommended. -

well nothing much right now. There's a TTE supercharger kit which can be fitted with LTA approval, which would prob bring the 0-100 sprint to about sub 8 at least. -

One more thing....try with your air-con compressor on and off...the engine noise most probably is the compressor. If so, it is better to have the air-con checked by BM technician......probably nothing but just to be safe....so u can get the 2nd dealer to rectify any problems before taking over the car
Yes there will be some wind noise above 100km/hr.....perfectly normal. Additional insulation not really required....only adds uneccessary weight to the car.....rather when its time to change your tyres....look for a quiter model. The main road intrusion will be tyre 'roar'....can solve with careful tyre selection.
Sports version.....no enhancement in power but think some skirting and 17 inch sport rims.....purely aesthetics. -

Otherwise, engine specs. are the same.

Wow, Didnt know abt that though. Looks like there r both SuperCharger & Turbo-Charger available(LTA Compliant). Great News but the Mod costing 10-15k is quite hard to stomache leh..... By the way the previous Owner of the LTA Approved Super-Charged IS200 sold off his ride already. Could it be due to the high FC? Curious Curious as i tink he juz spend a bomb to get it done.

Bought my ride direct from a Owner who upgraded to a RX300.
My Yearly Dep for the IS200 is ard 7.5k/yr as well. Very good for me.
BM is selling at $128,888 w/o discount unless you take their package can get think up to 10k rebate but you need to chk though. *Decided against getting a Brand New one due to the low OMV & also understand that a New Model for IS coming out in say 6-9mths time.
My FC is currently around 10km/l which is quite ok. Normal svs won't cost more than $200 for a 10k Full Syn package. I service my ride at my Mechanic Wkshop as quite a number of Lexus does svs at his place in AMK Autopoint.
Very happy with the car though. I personally rate in 8.5/10 -
oh..i was actually referring to the mr-s coz im very keen on getting one..do u tink 1st hand or 2nd hand will be better? I dun see it on the price list on borneo motors so i have to make my queries here. Yap..as i was saying above, how much to pay monthly for it(mr-s)?

There are 2 variants to this model. The IS200 Lexus (rebadged) or the RS200 (Altezza).
The Toyota Altezza is the Japanese variant of the European Lexus IS200.
In Japan, the car is produced in two forms,
The Inline-6 DOHC 24v VVT AS200, and the more powerful RS200 - with an inline-4 DOHC 16v VVTi engine
The European market (including the UK) was not offered the more powerful RS200 variant, settling instead upon the Lexus badged IS200 - with the same I-6 (Inline 6 cylinder) engine and a set range of packs e.g. S, SE and Sport.
The Toyota Altezza RS200 is available in Japan and as a UK import in both manual and automatic form, with the 6 speed manual pushing out 210bhp and the 5 speed auto box with e-shift gears close behind with 200bhp. The RS200 is the more sought after and therefore more expensive car of the two

There was this comparison in AUTOCAR ASIAN edition some time back between the IS200, 318i and C200 kompressor. I cant remember who came out tops but the biggest seller was the 318i. All these are actually being called "yuppie" cars cos most of the drivers are young dudes who dont save money. haha. anyway after that article came out some fella wrote in to say that for around that price u could get an Evo (vii at that time) so i was also thinking why pple wanna buy IS200... it doesnt look all that nice, it's accessories are quite limited to those chiong type and looks a bit beng beng also the rear lights transparent. nowadays a lot of evo6 series mit lancer also put those rear light very ugly...

TKS FOR YOUT INFO. i've already bought a 2nd hand ride and had been drivin it for a mth plus already.
I went for the Lexus IS200 mainly due to the smooth S6 engine, accessories, badging etc. Power is not too much a issue for me as we ae living in a country full of restrictions. -
FYI, although Lexus contains Toyota engine, believe me it's still considered a "higher class" brand in the automobile industry. You can say it's somewhere between a typical Jap car and a mercedes! That's probably why additional parts/accerssories are difficult to find.
But of course, if one is LOaDed, IMpoSsBiLe IS NoThInG !!!

I don't think so. This design is ORIGINAL and perhaps you wana take a closer look at the current design of taillights - aren't they just copying Lexus??
plus abit of changes here and there and whalah !! A "new model" is born. Perfect examples include the Jag. S Type and Hyundai Sonata.
Buy an EVO?? Naa .... too many on the roads?? ... unless if we're talking about ~7-8 years ago ... where ppl will ROAR wheneva they see one, anyway that's only my point of view. I'm always a fan of Mitsubishi also, however it's just too bad they're heavily mass producing them due to market demand ...
So ... the same question to all Lexus Drivers out there, anyway places you can recommend for tuning??
