anyone out there has a spare car?
or know anyone that can rent out their cars?
I'm interested in renting a car for a period of 2 weeks starting from 23 aug.
can be manual too... but mustn't break down one lah...
i've been driving on and off, so am experience in driving... so not a newbie...
but will also purchase insurance for renting... SOP....
Spoke with a couple of big car rental companies but i think robbing a bank will be easier and cheaper...

I provide cheuffeur services at $40 per hour. Petrol and driver included. and we can take you anywhere in singapore or out of singapore. Day rates is $400 per day locally and $500 per day in malaysia and thailand.

u try to search for car rental on yahoo auctions. There are pple renting out their cars but u shd make sure they get the extra insurance from NTUC to protect urself and the owner in the event of accidents. -
I have rented from BMW (i think) rental company b4 and is quite ok.
U can find them in the newspaper classified section 361.
They have one a tiong bahru and along bukit merah near panasonic building.

I will not go and rent from them for sure. I encourage pple to put up their bad experience so to prevent more people from being victim to them.
For those who do rent car now and then, i encourage you to join Cityspeed Car sharing scheme. It is cheaper than NTUC car sharing and more location than the Honda Diret car sharing. Check it our yourself -

i had rent a toyota corolla during the weekend for 3 days from this company before and it is called... Chan's Car Rental...
the price is quite good and requires no deposit at all... service is satisfactory overall as well... u may want to consider this company...

Juz wondering, does that price include fuel? Cos i saw on the website that it does, but i'm juz wondering how you gonna top up? i remb that u do not need to top up fuel. In the event u need to, it will be charged to their company directly. Top up is their designated pertrol stations around the island. It is stated in the FAQ section i think
Hirer are changed on time and distance travelled. Is think is $0.35 per km. -

I've tried various car rentals. So far, i always liked to go to this shop along Tanjong Katong. Their cars are quite ok, nice condition, no fuss as well. Also tried Soon Hock (i tink) and Falcon, where its more of a workshop based company renting out cars, their cars are a bit more ..... in a untidy fashion. Someone ever recommanded me the shop near Yishun Camp, said its quite gd..
Those proper ones, like Hertz (though they have pretty gd cars), have sticker leh... kekekeke.. sometimes its juz plain unslightly (you know what i mean
).. which brings me to this question... cityspeed and Honda diracc, have sticker on their cars? -

i am also thinking of joining cityspeed once my p-plate is over in sept.
renting wise, for me, pretty much okie lah, just that beware of some places that does renting illegally which means that if there's an accident, you won't be covered.

Good thing about cityspeed is that they do not have PH charges. Meaning if PH is on a weekday, they will charge as if is on weekday. No carsharing scheme other than cityspeed is this nice.
Cityspeed also have better packages than NTUC eg. u can rent overnite car for $34 from 7 pm to 8 am etc check out www.cityspeed.com.sg
Rental companies hardly have hourly or day packages.
So if u r sure that u only need to have a car for that few hours, than car sharing is suitable.
BTW, u can rent a brand new car under your name from some rental companies. They will bring in the car that U want and rent u for min 2 years usually and at the end of the contract u can buy or return the car. Maintenance, tax and insurance all cover, that why monthly installment is higher than u buy car. -

True... the monthly payment will be around $1k w/o petrol but u will not be in debt for years (5 or 7?) to come and this higher monthly payment will offset this years of in debt.
Cityspeed's off-peak rates sound reasonable... but i'm rather afraid the cost i'll run up to, cos they charge by the distance/time....
Cityspeed is best suitable for time packages and when u are sure that u will not exceed the time when u take the car eg either 8 am to 6 pm or 7 pm to 8 am etc.
But you can also rent from 8 am to 8 pm by paying additonal 2 hours of the package.
I do agree that the distance charge of $0.40 per km is ex but then the cityspeed do need to earn $. But they do give 10 km "free" for every hour that u book.
I am hopping that they will buy mazda 3 and the proton Gen 2 for their new cars as the price is slightly higher than vios.
Furthermore, cityspeed CDW or LDW of $6 for 1.5L car is 50% less than orix rental or other car rental companies ($15 or $22).
So add up the difference and overall u do save. Per trip is of course more ex than u "own" a car -

Guys,,,,....I have a friend who want to sell his 4 yr plus Madza 323 Protege. (blue color)..
Just asking for $1 k and buyer take over the monthly installment (around $800) plus buyer pay the transfer fee (dunno how much..but guess 400-600)....
