manual vs auto

I am new to cars and I know this sounds really newbie. I would like to ask which type of transmission would you prefer to drive and the reason for it?
I feel that manual transmission looks really cool and needs more skill compare to auto.
And also what happens if you step the accelerator till about 2.5k RPM and throw clutch on gear 1? Do all racers pick up like this? -
Auto, because I'm lazy to change gears and even lazier to step on the clutch.

and you actually feel like you're in control of the car
it does take some getting used to .... but, once you get used to it, it's like 2nd nature
if you accel to 2.5rpm and then throw the clutch, you'll get the smell of burning rubber.
but, beware ..... do this often and suffer a few consequences. wear and tear to the clutch and gearbox will increase -
auto, hate changing gear n control clutch... dun hv to bother if got traffic on slop...

Auto or manual no problem ....
But personally like Auto cAuse too many traffic jams and T lights in sg leow

depend what u want...
manual - speed, fun, quick pick-up, very low maintances. almost zero malfunction. oni feeling tired out when there is a traffice jam
Auto - slower (unless high-end sportcar steptronic, other are not built for performance) good for cruise. no worried when jam. high maintance - jerky if not maintance properly. cannot push start...make sure battery never goes flat. -

i myself if wan to pick-up faster... pull hand-break,find biting point of clutch, den rev to 2.5 to 2.8k on RPM, den release hand-break,den FLOOR acc...lolx...of cos u must get tires tat hv grip lah, if not,it wil spin & spin...or mayb get a REX cos 4WD mah...
End of te dayhehe, must get tires tat hv grip, i feel/tink SO-2.....cos use b4...hehehe
practice lonching til u get the most out of it & try not to let ur wheels spin too much,..
if can........ (skid & Grip & go) is better den (spin & grip den go)..cos MAYB after spinning for a while,mayb ur RPM reach 5k liao, gonna change gear soon as distance travelled is not far as wheel is spinning..lik tat can understand hor.. 
Ya..also if can, change racing clutch>those got "kliang kling kling" sound,fly-wheel will be better cos the power is transmitted to the drive train mah....as to minimize loss...Tink is lik tat ba...do correct me if i'm wrong.. -

If u seriously like driving- then go manual, more thrills but people like me just to get to my destination, I prefer auto. Don't have to change gear when u are stuck in traffic jam

anyways, nowadays there are cars with automated clutch systems but are considered manual, and there are the semi-autos, sequential shifts etc. so its not easy to say if u simply prefer auto or manual.
btw, the point which u rev to before dumping the clutch depends on the car u are driving. -

Anyways, usually even when revving to 2.5k, u still need to feed in the clutch a bit b4 u dump it. The trick is in easing transition from clutch in to clutch out. -

wimp or no wimp.... its auto for me.... tried driving a manual car before and feel like my hand n leg very busy when changing gear....

After getting my licence, I had a go with my dad's manual trannie car for about a year, then stopped driving for close to 10 years. My first car was a company issue with auto trannie and I loved the convenience.
Honest. When you are unfamiliar with the terrain, the routes etc, having an auto trannie gives you one less thing to worry about.
When I got back to Singapore, I got my first car, an Auto 1.6. Man, the power loss was just horrendous. Upgraded to a 1.8, Auto gearbox with Manual mode cos I didn't know any better then. Still underpowered. Driving the manual equivalent of the same car showed so much more power on tap.
I had a lot of trepidation about going back to a manual but I guess it was inevitable. And I am surprised at how much more fun and easy it is to drive even on a daily basis.
I now find myself taking scenic routes, heck even at the beck and call of the missus just to get myself behind the wheel. My old auto car never got this kind of miles -

Using manual in a traffic jams is a big NO NO! My cousin almost got leg cramp when he was in a traffic jam for abt 2 hrs.
