When you first start yr car, it takes a while for the engine oil to recirculate throughout the engine to provide the lubrication. Getting the engine to warm up a little bit is good practice. It ensures that the engine parts are sufficiently lubricated before you start engaging it hard, and ensures you won't suffer premature wear and tear.
Idling too long is also not a good idea. It is something to do with your spark plugs.
A good guide is to wait for the engine rpms to drop to abt 1000rpm then just drive slowly and gently first thing.
But Audi/VW cars dun need to idle warm up rite? start,drive off gently,till temp builds up 90DegC..correct me if im wrong..
