steering wheel / front wheel croaking sound

steering wheel / front wheel croaking sound
recently got this symtom... when fresh start the car, drive awhile nothing one... only after some driving (maybe about 20-30mins), the front wheel/steering wheel will start to have croaking sound... every little turn of the steering wheel will croak... like those old hinges groak groak groak like that... my feet can really feel the "impact" of the croaking... each "groak" can feel some jerk... machiam the shaft or what very tight like that... but after park for some time, start again, it will disappear... only after driving for awhile again, it will come back.
walao just now i stopped for quite some time in my carpark waiting for space... i think at about 10-15mins. then suddenly when i move off (turn the wheel almost full coz making acute turn), it just groaaaaa-a-a-a-a-a-a--aa-a-a--aakkkkk...... all the way as i turn the wheel! seebeh er xin!
anyone knows what's the problem? -
there is a frog in ur steering mechanism...

yeah....i had the same problem...exactly 100% same problem. my car has a steering rack problem...go to workshop, check for you steering rack and driveshaft...hurry before u cant even turn ur steering wheels.Originally posted by HEARTLESS:steering wheel / front wheel croaking sound

could be cv joint or one of your front shock dampeners.

are u driving a new car or an old car??
does the sound only comes when u turn or driving straight?
how much must u turn for the croaking sound 2 happen??
i had similar problems before, but due to various reasons...
when only turning got sound, it was my cv joint...
but there was a time it was due to the space where the wheel is. turn ur wheel fully to the left or right while parked. check the insides of the space where the wheel is. look for any rubbing marks. sometimes the internal plastic flaps underneath the car will come loose and rub the wheel. i had my car lowered and sometimes when i brake and turn at the same time the car sinks and the wheel rubs the plastic... -

hmm...sounds like drive shaft problem...
had the same problem with my last 2 cars. thanks to all the cornering...

hey yah i got this problem also. but only when turn the steering to make 90 degree or more turns. usually observe this problem in multi storey car park or when parking. i try not to full-lock the steering to either side, and always turn slowly. went to mechanic once, he say no problem. something a bit worn, but no major worry. but still i feel uneasy everytime hearing the croaking noise. mine carry 1.3 van.
