  hey guys. anyone out ther knws when is it required?
  
  im going to oklahoma n san dieago... mus i hav an international licensce or can i jus use me sg one?

  better to have an international license as most car rental companies requires it..

  Safer, but so far, I always no problem getting rental car in USA using just Singapore driving license. I think English can liao.

  You will need a internation driving licence in the US.. It will help in both claims and insurance.. You can get one done at Automobile Association (AA)

  alright man. seriously i think the singapore test damn hardcore. if you really follow strictly as if during tp test. sure wont die one. may or may not accident. but if suay kena, wont die one. but places like thailand a bit scary to drive. and as for left hand drive countries, confusing. especially turn right/left. later turn into wrong lane bang oncoming car.

  Yeap, USA can be confusing to drive over there. So, do be careful. I had been in the wrong direction on a one way street before when I am not attentive.

  thks guys for all your advice.... thou i hav heard tt we dnt nid a conversion bt tink ill get one jus in case.. dnt wana spoil the whole trip by being "handicapped' with public transport...

  u just have to be extra careful when u drive in countries with left-hand drive.. i managed to survive the recent trip to LA & las vegas, drove over 800 miles and i think its more fun to drive around yourself than to join a tour group. u can decide the timings even till last minute

  i think sg is recognise but if nt wrong u need 2 undergo the traffic lesson over dat..

  you dun need to go thru any course or int'l license to rent a car in USA(even europe).
  Just use your license from sg is sufficient
  
  traffic lesson is required only if you have got your green card and need to convert your license as you are not visitor anymore....

  I think i have to let all know that if you are holding a sg driving license, the statement is supposed to be "most car rental companies do not require it"

  i just applied. u need to bring 2 pasport sized fotos, $20, and your driving licence. apply and receive on e spot.

  errr, tink not really necessary..sg driving license wil do..i hav exp in uk, however, not sure tat country needs, better to find out n prepare urself
