manual pros pls?

yesterday tried out a manual, 1st time busied my left foot since passing...
was sorta pushing the corolla along the dark deserted stretch of road into qian hu fish farm at sungei tengah. not really speeding (half lying) but just learning to accelerate hard...
somehow wasn't satisfied with my attempted swift changing of gears... i was told that i let off the gas too late resulting in abrupt high revs when i clutched in. so i tried to let off early before clutching in, but this resulted in jerks due to sudden drop of rpm. izit bcos i revved too much before upshifting?
heez can you masters offer advice? those racing pros seem to pull off optimal accelerations with jerk-free minimal gear changing intervals...
and btw izit true that the corolla's manual has poor precision? as in kinda ambiguous with the gear stick in entering another gate. or maybe bcos i'm still too raw? haha... cos when i learnt with the civic, i felt i was clearer abt where e gear stick was going into...
eh btw heez i'm not trying to be a street demon nono, just wanna up my standard. hard accelerations can come in useful in urgent cases

try 2 `ride' the clutch.
from neutral to 1st, release the clutch slowly without pressing the accelerator. once u reach the `biting' point, the car will move slowly forward (make sure u're not on an upward slope). then realease the clutch fully and the car will maintain the forward movement without having to press the accelerator pedal.
practice this untill u have a feel for when or where the `biting' point is.
for normal driving...when u reach the biting point, press the accelerator while continuing to release the clutch. happy trying. -
well.. i get that too! especially if my rpm goes above 5k.
the jerk should be, releasing the gas too soon before you clutch in. therefore, a brief engine brake has taken place, causing the jerk? more of a left n right leg coordination thingy..
i tried a few ways. one is when i up the rpm, i try to clutch in much faster. and of cuz shift quickly. or else the rpm will go all the way back down the idling speed.
second is i clutch in abt 3/4 dan i shft, seems smoother. pick up seems much more constant too. but dunno if its does any harm to the tranny.. -

theres a momentum when you change gears one...but dun try to ride the clutch..cos if theres extensive riding of clutch...your clutch pedal will get worn out very fast de..unless you want to road burn lohz..
since you have just passed, learn to control your stepping foot on the accelerator..cos control is more important....
and most cars in singapore you can shift gears when the rev meter hits a little over 2k...this would ensure you have a smooth gear changing and also not tend to drag the gear for too long..

Agreed: riding your clutch makes your clutch disc wear out much faster. However, the problem is... if you dump your clutch too fast, what happens is the car will jerk quite badly.
My solution is this: learn to shift fast, then release your clutch over a period of 1/2 a second or so. This way you wouldn't get sick passengers and still get reasonable acceleration

haha... racers DUMP the clutch.. at high revs it's not as jerky.
Ever watch these Jap videos where they throw cars around a track? Notice their left foot... never on the clutch unless are preparing to shift... and even then they shift like lightning.... -
haha icic shall try it someday when i have a chance on a manual again hmmm but i thought for those track cars they have a special racing clutch?
