There are usually 2 signs to show you should change your clutch.
1) As they say, the biting point can never be found.. or rather takes ages to find..
2) When there is a grinding noise when you engage your clutch.. This usually happens when the "skin" of the clutch wears off.. Leaving nothing to rub aganist. -
this is the problem...i duno if i need to change a new clutch or juz the skin...
my fren told me when the clutch skin totally wear off,u release the clutch wif
engage gear,it will not stall...but mine will still stall leh... roughly how much to change...anything shd be change together???

There is no such things as TOtally wears off one.... still got abit left.....
Unless you are GP racer and torn the clutch skin in super high speed.....
I think few of our explaination are quite good liao... the rest is up to you to feel whether the skin or clutch is gone.
For your case and normally.... only the skin need to be replaced due to wear and tear. That will cost few hundreds. If the clutch system it will cost 1 to 2 thousand.
What is your car make/model and how old?
Normal driving and no flood before, clutch system only need to change over 10 to 15 yrs. Else its the skin.....
Please provide more information to diagnose. -
few hundreds for clutch skin? few thousands for clutch system? wow...which workshop have u been going to. they sure are earning ALOT out of you.
For my car, it only cost around $600 to change the entire clutch system from a normal clutch system to a heavy duty wan. I havnt checked on the costs of the clutch skin.

What car you driving? maybe the cc range is different also manufacturer. -

ive check that the exedy racing clutch cost ard $400+...
do u all think its worth getting a racing clutch...
heard that its very hard...scared regret as its a long term... -

Run a simple test to determine if there is clutch slip.
-In a stationary position, pull the handbrake.
-Slowly release the clutch pedal and at the same time increase the accelerator.
Result:
-If the engine stalls, your clutch is fine.
-If the engine is still running, time to change your clutch.

If the engine is still running, I think it is better to have it check at a car workshop. The clutch could have worn out already and it is time to change a new one. Or perhaps some oil or grease leak to the friction surfaces, it could be the reason for clutch slip too.Originally posted by D16Z6:but if the car still move how???
