Taxis with one headlight on high beam.

I noticed there are more & more taxis with one of the headlights on high beam.
Is it coincidence? IMHO, I don't think so.
One friend of mine believed that this is intentional for the cab drivers to see their passengers when they flag for a cab in the dark.
But this is real hazard to the other motorist!
Is this a traffic offence to have one of the lights on high beam?

is not just taxi driver who uses high beam..Some private cars owner also like to use high beam..Don't know whether they don't know they are using high beam or they purposely use one..They are so inconsiderate to other road users leh..Always reflect light from the rear view mirror..damn irritating..
Always wanted to go behind them and high beam them all the way...

damn those high beam drivers and cabbies!!
Bastards make my eyes so painful with the strong beams.
Cannot see clearly in the dark dun drive lah!
How can we get back at them? Go behind them and use my high beam? -

How should we "tell" those inconsiderate taxi drivers that their headlights are faulty?
I tried to adjust my rearview mirror.
But it's really hard. Dangerous as well.
Any suggestions?

Off topic: if you see a cab or any vehicle with black smoke, you can call NEA to complain. They will request for the vehicle to be sent for inspection. -
sometimes high beam comes with a purpose ... but peeps tend to mis use them

This morning, those taxi drivers did it again man..While travelling along BKE, i came out from a slip road and slowly make my way to the overtaking lane..Seeing the taxi is some distance behind me..I just go right into it..
And who knows..That bloody taxi driver immediately turn on his high beam and shine at all..I believe that before i go into his lane, he didn't turn on his high beam..And i also believe that I cut into his land suddenly without giving him ample time to react..
I was so pissed off man..Wanted to go behind him and take down his vehicle number and lodge a complaint with Comfort..But traffic too heavy, no chance to do that... -
That's there style. They'll flash you like nobody business.
When they do that and you flash them, they'll slow down until you have to brake.
When you try to overtake them, their accelerator will work suddenly.
There was one incident when I was turning right into a one lane road. Only the extreme lane (where I am) can turn into this single lane. This stupid taxi attempt to turn right also from the lane on my left.
So I made a slow big turn. He tried to cut in front of me but was too slow, he end up almost went up to the pavement. So no choice he had to brake.
Anyway, he is wrong to do a right turn in a lane with straight ahead arrow.
They act tough as if they are "fast & furious" but they are more fearful of damaging their "rice bowl" than we do.

well...i think this is not what they wants also,can imagine if your car have to move around in the nitez for many hours and none stop how can the car still in a good condition? and somemore those headlight wirings for taxis are not like ours...we go for those expensive ones and yet they only use those normal ones and this will cause the headlight bulb to blow off very easily you see? and inorder to let other motorist to see them ofcuz they have to light up the high beam rite? for you,you prefer to choose to notice other road users or you want to have an accident?Originally posted by dewsd:I noticed there are more & more taxis with one of the headlights on high beam.

ur fri should hve notice it when cmes to a stop at e traffic lights. He will notice suddenly e car in front glows like a torch when using high beam. But, it should not be at the expense of the other motorists' safety.
The high beam from the back can be so glaring that it's hard to see what's ahead of us. What happens if there's a motorcycle appear in front. It's really very dangerous. -
can i ask wad high beams are for? been wondering why you would need to shine lights in front of u instead of onto the road. except to blind other road users.
