Help!!! I turn too SLOW!!!

Hi everyone!
I'm a learner who is going to complete Module 1. My turning is terrible, or rather, it varies with my mood and the instructor! I was fine with everything & never hit a kerb before in my first few lessons ... until I met a NASTY instrustor who kept BURPING
and playing with his HP beside me! He totally ruined my concentration that day and he kept saying he wondered how the previous instructor could clear me for my turning. My engine stalled countless times and hit the kerb twice!
Ever since that burper, I could not gauge when to turn properly anymore. My turns are too wide or too sharp. Another instructor told me that I should be good with the wheels since i'm completing Module One.
Can anyone tell me what should I do? How to gauge when to turn, etc? My evaluation is next Monday. Help! -
For normal turns, just turn when your side mirror is in line with the kerb... whereas for U turns, start turning when your shoulder is in line with the corner of the kerb... and you need to work on your concentration... otherwise, next time, you won't be able to drive with ppl in the car...

Practice makes perfect.. tats wat i do... if u cant turn, then juz turn n turn n turn.. over n over again until u get it... dun be afraid tat u might hit the kerb.. its totally alright..
Dun be nervous... juz drive as if u r driving a bumper car.. or go cart.... no worries... play ard with the car... control the car... nt letting it controlling u !! -

Can I return the wheel with one hand? Cause if I use two hands, it's too slow and it's can get quite aching over time ... -
the basic rule would be for the side mirror to be inline with the kerb but u cant always use this as a judge as outside roads might be different so it is best if u are able to "feel" it.
as for returning i think it's up to u, as long as u keep your hands on the wheel it's fine. -

it's all abt the instinct & feeling... which can only be acquired by practice practice & practice...

oh BTW, while we r at this topic of turning, for example u wanna turn right at a traffic light. From a stop position, do u turn using gear 1 or gear 2? for my TP test, i turned(i was first car) using 1st gear, as gear 1 very slow so i accelerated abit more, but the tester say i accelerate too much. so i wan to know is it ok to turn using gear 1?

Sorry, I know i'm still a learner ... but you have to move off with first gear right? My instructor said accelerate a little while turning, and a bit more when ur car is straight. Change to 2nd gear as usual after that ...

well i supose thats possible, but what happens if the right turn is a long one? for example test route 2 at CDC, it's a long turn to the right. 1 of my instructor told me to change to gear 2 as u make the turn.

actually i think as long as the engines picks up or it's noisy already it's time to change gear. i m also not really sure

for learners driving on public roads
This is what i do when i'm learning at BBDC
1st gear hit 20km/h
2nd gear hit 30km/h
3rd gear hit 40km/h
4th gear and you will be ard 37km/h(if you change your gear slowly) then pick up till 45km/h so that you won't hog the road

Having problems at the crank and s courses?
For crank course,judge with the bottom of the side mirror.Once the entire bottom of the side mirror passes the curb edge of the turning corner,you can turn.Of course,your speed should be slow,preferably 2nd gear throughout.
For S course,judge by aligning the centre of the bonnet and the tip of the curve edges.Adjust your steering wheels accordingly.And go slow but steady.

you can change gear while turning right, even if u're the first car, unless my instructors were all blind not to correct me. by the time u get to the turning pt, ur speed would have picked up enough to reach 2nd gear. just be careful as u control the wheel with one hand.

Well from what i was thought always look towards the lane you're turning into. Somehow if u look at the kerb, telling urself not to hit it, u'll end up drifting towards it. Or if u tell urself to give the kerb more space, ull turn wide into the other lane. So just concentrate on the centre of the lane, go slow and RELAX. Too tense and ull mess it. Was thought to move off on gear 1 for right turn, change up to 2 when halfway thru junction.

just another pt... yea we know each & every corner varies on the roads. so maybe it's helpful to just roughly sense the angle & convex of the turning kerb before reaching the turning pt. hence if u know it's sharper than usual, then just compensate your turning here & there to prevent striking the kerb...
