Currently interested in a family car; and the SE offered me the option of a sports rims plus some other items for around $2k.
The SE mentioned it got something to do with more road stability, however it will add to fuel consumption.
Is it true what the SE say? What is the real usage of sports rims, besides making the tyre region look real nice? Is sports rims the same as alloy rims, as what I read in some auto mag???
Appreciate your advices.
Thks.
Sports rims are supposed to be lighter than the stock hubcap wheels.
But usually you tend to upsize the rims and use wider tyres. This should give you better grip and handling, but at the expense of fuel consumption.
will bigger rim cause a noisier rider?
that depends on the tyres...
comfort tyres less noise, less grip
performance tyres more noise (need better car sound proofing), better grip and wears faster
