Fade during hard braking??? I have been to PG with my stock pads and discs and I never experienced fade thru'out.Originally posted by whitehouse:notice the brakes tends to fade when hard braking.
Though the callipers are brembo, the brandless rotor are totally not tough enuf...the rotor`s dull metal colour dun even gives me confident at all.Whats makes you think its brandless... you looking for the brembo stamp? My after mkt discs are also dull in colour... I dun expect serious brake companies to paint a bright "exciting" colour.
Used to drive a fiat coupe 20v turbo.superb handling and braking.(at least its a cross-drilled ventilated and looks tough)Go to AP racing / DBA / Stoptech... they will tell you that if you want to avoid pad fade on track, the experts will tell you to go for slotted discs, not the drilled ones. Drilled ones crack under intense heat and pressure. I wanted to go for drilled discs for the bling factor too, but if he experts tell you not too, it will be foolhardy to do so.
Every morning when going over the first hump, the Evo`s suspension seems to be hitting against something, giving out a sound.Any Evo owner hv the same experience?Nope, maybe you are braking too late and hard (hence pad fade) before the humps. Like DoggieHowser said, change your brake lines to steel braided ones.![]()
do check if ur car dealer has removed the rubber like bung slotted between ur springs of the suspension. They are about 5 cm by 3cm wedged in between the coils of ur springs. They may be the cause of the suspension probOriginally posted by whitehouse:notice the brakes tends to fade when hard braking.Though the callipers are brembo, the brandless rotor are totally not tough enuf...the rotor`s dull metal colour dun even gives me confident at all.Used to drive a fiat coupe 20v turbo.superb handling and braking.(at least its a cross-drilled ventilated and looks tough) Every morning when going over the first hump, the Evo`s suspension seems to be hitting against something, giving out a sound.Any Evo owner hv the same experience?![]()

And yes, the brakes are spongier from stock. You do have to realize the car is more powerful and heavier, and does require more effort to stop. I think if you put the same brakes on a lighter car, you wouldn't have the same gripes.
Just change the brake lines to steel braided ones and bleed the brakes.
If that's still not enough, change the pads.
Then the discs
Then slap on a master cylinder brake stopper.
And if still not enough, try switching to AP 6 pots

Regarding the brakes.. perhaps they are new.. the new disc are dull and they have to be run in like the pads too.. after about a thousand km.. they will be much more effective and definitely shiny and polished.Originally posted by whitehouse:notice the brakes tends to fade when hard braking.Though the callipers are brembo, the brandless rotor are totally not tough enuf...the rotor`s dull metal colour dun even gives me confident at all.Used to drive a fiat coupe 20v turbo.superb handling and braking.(at least its a cross-drilled ventilated and looks tough) Every morning when going over the first hump, the Evo`s suspension seems to be hitting against something, giving out a sound.Any Evo owner hv the same experience?![]()
