LTA wants us to surrender the Flare Stick in our SUV

Just saw the evening news...
Suddenly it is illegal to have a flare stick (the nice red tube which i do not know the actual name) which comes originally in our Japanese make SUV. Its comes with the vehicle when imported and have been in the SUV all along.
Suddenly now garment says it is illegal and we have to surrender it to LTA, or else face imprisonment term. They have seized it from all the current imported Japanese make SUV.
WTF....why is it OK for 6 years and now cannot liao??
That was one of the reason I bought my SUV. I paid to get a new one when my old one expired. Now garment want to seize...who pay me? -

You don't need the flare stick in Singapore anyway, you can swap them with half a dozen stick of sparkler from the mama stop downstairs.

All these years garment permit the cars with these flare sticks to be imported for so many year...now they say cannot w/o a reason...slap on their own face. -
