Chevrolet Optra or Mitsubishi Lancer?

Hi guys! I went for a test-drive with my dad this afternoon. We tried out these 2 models, price about the same abt 66k. I'm inclining towards the Optra; it looks more pro, inside more comfy, engine quieter and the ride was smoother in my opinion.
Any opinion on this? -

Chevrolet Optra is a korean made rebadged Daewoo Nubira (Bankrupted and
bought over by GM Motors), Mitsubishi Lancer is an all Japanese Anti-car now,
with Mitsubishi Motors denial about their engineering mistakes previously,
and their Parent Company, Daimler Chryler, not going to fund them anymore.

Nissan is the Number One Hated Car in Japan.
Reason: It is not 100% own by Japanese.
Japanese are a PROUD race. Non-Japanese car to them are 2nd rate.
Mitsubishi is still 100% Japanese own.
Chevrolet, one of those low class car in US market. I believe it is either No1 or No2 best selling car in US, B'cos of cheap cost.
Go for Mitsubishi should be safer, more resale value and more recognised in Spore => can find workshop repair easier and cheaper. -

My friend driving an Optra and according to her, FC is bad, about 10km/litre. Other than that, the car is well spec and equipped compared to Sunny and Lancer. Sunny is due for new model change soon and Lancer....hmm, don't see much on the road despite the low price...there must be some reason to it...you know Singaporean lah....good car, everyone sure follow and buy...

I went to test drive Optra and found it quieter and more stable than Jap cars. As for Lancer, it has been around for some time but I am concern over the SOHC engine which no other mid-size car is carrying now.
There is an ongoing promotion for Mitsubishi now, so you can get a great deal if you are not buying the sports version. As for Optra, you can still negotiate for things like free leather seats but it is wiser to wait for the public promotion to kick in with the launch of Optra 5.
Talking about FC, you got to go for Toyota or Honda but sacrifice some other things.
Anyway, u must buy what you feel you like during test drive

Just to correct what pixy said. Optra is assembled in Thailand in which the same factory oso rolls out the alfa romeo and Opel as well. Not in Korea as what is mentioned. Personally, i think GM is the largest car maker. They will definitely make a great impact in Singapore. I am driving an Optra myself. My FC is about 11+/-. Though nothing to shout about but i think it's still not bad. My friends riding Altis only managed about the same FC as me. As for friends riding a Sunny or Hyundai, not anywhere close....
Still, choose a car you are most comfortable with.... cos it's a long term commitment.

There was an award given to Optra in India for the best FC car. They quoted 22 but I think their version may be different. Participants in the contest include Corolla. To me, popular Jap cars are no longer diff from Optra because their factorys are also in Thailand.
