from the electric newpaperI was groped by Ah PekBy Ho Lian-Yi, October 07, 2006
WHEN Yvonne Lim was told she would have to be very daring for her new drama serial An Enchanted Life, she did not think it meant being groped by an ah pek (Hokkien for old man).
It certainly wasn't in the script - the director only added the scene afterwards.
'I was thinking, 'oh no', because the person groping wasn't a hunk. If he were a hunk, I'd be saying, 'go on, touch it!' joked the 30-year-old actress. ( lol.

)
The lucky guy was a middle-aged, part-time actor.
And although she was uncomfortable at first, Yvonne finally agreed to the scene as she felt it was true to the spirit of her character as a 'bing lang mei' - a scantily-clad girl who sells betel nuts in Taiwan.
She plays a Taiwanese girl who comes to Singapore to find her father in this MediaCorp melodrama about a bitter feud between two half-sisters. It starts airing on Monday on Channel 8, and also stars Fiona Xie, Pierre Png and Adam Chen.
Despite the risque scene,
Yvonne said she didn't use a body double. She said: 'Actually,
I thought the shot would show my face. After I saw it on screen, I realised it only showed my butt! So we could have got a body double.'
Also, don't be shocked if you see havoc shots of Yvonne online.
Some of her scenes took place in Geylang, where she had to wear very revealing outfits.
But the shoots resulted in some unwanted attention.
'There were all these 'cheeko peks' (lecherous men) taking photos (with their handphones)... Goodness knows what they're going to do with the photos!' she said.
The production crew tried to get them to stop, but no such luck.
To look good onscreen, Yvonne said she worked out vigorously and went on a carbohydrate-free diet.
Initially confident about her figure, the then-thin-but-not-toned actress was shocked when she saw herself in her sheer outfits.
'The underwear was so tight... It's really ugly,' she said.
She eventually she dropped from 46kg to around 42kg, which led to rumours that she was anorexic. But she denied it, saying she loves eating too much, especially pastries.
And what does her family think of her scantily-clad character?
'Actually, my dad doesn't know yet!' she said.
Yvonne has had her share of brave roles, like that of a mentally-unstable murderer in Portrait Of Home II and a pitiful breast cancer patient in A New Life, but this is her first bomb part.
And no, she doesn't see herself as a sex symbol.
'But, once in a while, letting people think I'm sexy is also quite nice.'
