Read in an old interview from some Hong Kong magazine after her "retirement" that she got out because the entertainment circuit was getting too "complicated" for her. Though she didn't mention the incidents explicitly, the sensational reports of Andy Lau publicly declaring his love for her, Chow Yun-Fatt committing suicide for her and other invasive scoops on her private life including her failed marriage to a businessman, all these took a heavy toll on her well-being, physically and mentally. Not wanting to end up like her good friend Weng Meiling, she had to bail.
According to that same interview, she went back to appear in a few box-office duds and TV shows only out of goodwill and to repay some "favours" (nothing more was mentioned about who her benefactors were and what kind of favours they were). On top of running her own businesses in advertising and restaurants, she is currently also an active organiser of many charitable activities.
