they do know about it .... watch CNN for example ... chinese or taiwanese leaders are announced " Hu JinTao ... ( My local driving license has my family name first too, though i'm not sure if it's because of the ang moh habit of listing family name first for official documents or political correctness on their part ...) -
in SAF also, our family name comes after our chinese given names.
