  Many Koreans today find it disputable, but Korea, or Cho-sun as known in ancient times, used to be a vassal state offering regular tribute to China. (This probably explains why most old Korean texts were written in Hanja or the traditional Chinese script before the native Korean alphabet Hangul became popular as it is now.)
  
  If one were to trace the genealogy of many Koreans, one wouldn't be too surprised to find Chinese ancestry somewhere along the family lines.
