here are my thoughts after watching all of the 96 (had to fast forward the last 10) episodes so far...
The story doesn't quite make it for me.
The characters are shallow and lack character development. There's physical ordeal, yes, seeing how much blood Ichigo has shed. But there's only 1 episode of emotional ordeal, seeing how her sister was nearly killed in episode one. It's hard pressed for me to believe that he would go that far to do what he is doing or claim to do, save the world.
The lack of believability is very obvious since I just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist prior to Bleach. -
FMA is certainly much better.
Bleach is just like Naruto. Something for the kids to watch but does not really engage the mind. -

Bleach is just like Naruto. Something for the kids to watch but does not really engage the mind. I've all the Naruto episodes, and used to own the Naruto comics. It was good until the fillers came.
The story is not bad. I can really feel that Naruto wants recognition from his friends since he had the fox in him. And it is the search for recognition that is consistent throughout that makes the story more believable.
The second part of Naruto I felt was focusing on looking for Sasuke. But the fillers really doesn't help enforce that idea.
