Ok.... main question is... if the Japanese Companies is against this "piracy"... why they support Odex busting on "illegal downloaders" instead of going after the fan-subbers themselves.
Simple, these fan-subbers are a form of marketing. Without fan-subbers, the studio's anime would be lost in the thousands of animes out there. These fan-subbers can make an anime stand out.
Seriously, if there was no fan-subbers to sub Haruhi, I would never know such anime existed. I would never know about the studio that made it, Kyoto Animation which is responsible for FMP and fumoffu and the famous Lucky Star. And if I have no knowledge about Haruhi, I would never bought the figurines and poker cards and I would never have learnt that crazy dance

Prior to this, frankly speaking, I couldn't give a sh*t about anime.
But as I saw this whole thing develop.... I just started to turned against ODEX.
And Stephen Sing's actions haven't helped at all, what with his incendiary online postings and all. In the end, what people see is 'This guy sues schoolchildren for money, and gloats about it online'.
And no, writing it off as a 'PR disaster' is not the same as an apology.... because saying that 'it was a PR disaster' translates as 'We said things which others didn't want to hear, and we regret that.' -

I can accept arguments that we should support original products... after it's the right thing to do...
BUT what I cannot understand is that after all the things being published by the media, their director being smug that he had sued the pants off some kids, producing low quality products, never finish their products, YOU are still supporting ODEX...
since u were given a letter, was it part of the terms of your settlement that u have to defend ODEX... seriously, you are the only person on thsi forum who still supports what ODEX is doing....
