They still need to solve the problem of issuing wrong notices to innocent users.
This whole affair will be made worse if they made no checks to verify that the users are indeed downloading copyrighted materials. -

The tactic is the same but in different coating. Formally, letter by Odex, now is letter by your ISP. This also mean, they hire your ISP to TRACK you. Since the court say they lack technical know how. This can also mean, they capable of planting detection (read spyware) in your computer. after all, the software is from ex hacker.
This also mean, they pay ISP to track, compile the list and send letter. That way, they court can not say no to their demand. So your ISP become they gunner, monitoring every connection of your, seeing what you see, reading what you read and listening to what you chat. Track you and kill you (by issue letter). Of course, this effectively make Odex the NSA and ISP their tool. if they want, they know every single detail what you do on the net. No more privacy for us.
They letter can say you download xxx and etc etc...please acknowledge that you will not do so in the future....either you press enter key or click on yes, knowingly or not. You consent to their statement. Once you consent, you are liable whether you download or not hence you consent.
Look like they trying to be master mind for some sort. Working with ISP give me much credit they needed (bad publicity).
Have to see what ISP have to said. Of course, if Odex pay enough, they may give in. Singnet is more troublesome since they consent in the first place.
So everyone should have a dummy email account for their ISP that will get lock up after one month of inactive. That way, they letter can't reach you

I don't think so. Since they are ISPs themselves, they will have their own way of tracking users. Besides, before they are able to get on the Net, their first contact is the ISP. Since equipment are owned by ISPs and not users, ISPs will have direct access to logs, there's no need to use tracking software by a 3rd-party. Might not be. ISPs all along will send out warning letters as long as someone requested, that is in no way hiring. I've requested 2 times for Singnet to look into hacker attacks. I didn't hire them, but ask them to take the appropriate action under their T&C.
ODEX can do the same thing, without paying a single fee, except when nobody answers the letter.
Also, I wonder how many really check your ISP mailbox? Personally, I don't, although I have one. This will backfire and ODEX will start sending letters again.
That's how a C&D letter works. You give your word that you won't such things anymore, they will close one eye and let you.
You agree and continue doing, they will do something else to you.
Working with ISP doesn't mean giving you bad publicity once they sort out how to verify that the notification indeed goes to the right user and not the wrong one.
Now the balls are in the ISP courts. What will happen, we shall see. Also, all users, with the exception of Starhub users, have an email account with their ISP which is non-expirable until your contract ends. Don't think of getting away with that.
While you may say you don't check that account, ODEX words are simple enough to understand. You will be notified via your ISP, which means through the email that they provided you with, or an account which you told them that you will be using. -
