1) The yellow flashing light means, it tells the driver to look for any notices that is placed at the HW(HeadWall of the station). Notices may vary. Usually yellow flashing lights indicates that the train has to be driven in CM mode. There is another one, Red flashing light, but I forgotten what my uncle told me about it. Notices such as, Raining, Drive in CM mode, approach next station less than 30kph or also Race day, usually at Marsiling and Yew tee, as Kranji station is near the Turf Club. If it is raining, you can go take a look at the notice at the HW place of the station.
2) Codes? Hmm. When train doors are opened, they cannot be moved. No matter if you applied the throttle or not, the train is presumed 'dead'. Once the train doors are closed, then the train will be able to receive the codes.

1. Yellow means Caution/CM. Red probably means no go - service suspended/disruption.
2. I guess it could be speed codes. Average train speeds may vary at OCC's discretion.
3. Every train has a car number. It is four digits. There are stickers of the number inside and outside of the train. The first digit indicates the position of the trainset. The next three digits represent the trainset. This number is assigned when the train is first delivered.
to continue with my post, of yr 1st question.
The purpose of the yellow flashing light is to attract the attention of the TOs when they approach to a new station. It is to remind the TOs that they have to read the message displayed on the board.
An example, the use of it in the day, might be due to men working at site, raining, race day, crane working ahead and etc. The train are driven in CM mode because , for example if crane working ahead is displayed, and the crane turned into the track boundary, the TO will then can apply the emergency brake for safety.
The red flashing light is turned on in an another situation, one of which, to demarcate the work boundary during the night when maintainance works are carried out.
So far I have not seen the red flashing light turned On during the service time, but I've seen it being turned on when after service time.

15 years to 40 years, depending on what kind of train it is.
15 years - Train which have a low cost that's built to have minimal lifespan that is going to be replaced rather than refurbrished.30 years - Normal train normally have the lifespan which is this long. Whether mid-life refurbrishment occurs have to depend on operators.
40 years - Maximum lifespan for train normally, unless operators has some reasons not to replace the train. Train which has reached this stage of lifespan generally have a higher cost of mantainance than newer train at it's current generation. Whether mid-life refurbrishment occurs have to depend on operators.
K i get it.Thanks for the explanation.

Yup.
It is SLRT.. Singapore Light Rail Transit..
Back then there are alot of problems of which the company encountered, untill SMRT decided to take over the operations of the BP LRT... This was what I heard from my uncle.. Will try to dig out info more..
To add on: SLRT was a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMRT. Today, railway-related business in the division is known as SMRT Trains.

Talking abt LRTs, i hope SMRT would paste full body ad on LRTs in the future just like in previous years. I remembered that one of them was from Pokka.

It uses the same logo as SMRT, just that they don't put SMRT there, but changed it to SLRT.
When SLRT opened in 1999, the company was running on their own, with their maitainance crew to manage its fleet. Almost all of the employees of the SLRT were inexperienced and have no background in railway services, thus it resulted in numerous breakdowns..
http://www.lta.gov.sg/images/BPLRT.pdf <- View for the incident report from LTA.
For example the vehicle collision that happened on 19 November 2000. When the new CEO of SMRT came in (IIRC 2003/2004), they decided to re-organize the LRT, upgrade its GEALOC (a Bombardier fixed-block system technology) signalling sysem and put in more capable employees from SMRT. Till now, the operation and the services of the LRT turned out to be 'flawless'? till today...
