I once heard this...
1 min after "Next Station, Lorong Chuan"
"*ding dong* Eating or drinking is not allowed in stations and trains, eating or drinking is not allowed in stations and trains"

i think this question has been answered... lols...
" Most of the station announcements are generated automatically. There is a dedicated computer system (Automatic Train Supervision System - ATSS) which oversees this...like where is its intended destination or whether it is a passenger service train.
Generally, all trains in today's modern systems carry 'an identity' or 'tag', as they move within the railway network. They have 'antennas' that communicate with track-side signal equipments although its appearance or design may vary.
LIke the ones in SMRT, the train (whether it is a passenger train or a non-revenue one) is detected about 500 metres (or about 3 ATP blocks) away from the station and it will trigger a pre-programmed announcement played over the station public address system. "
i got a question, how come hor sometimes the speaker in the c151 train right will have a "pop" sound like after the annoucement or with just no reason. e.g 127-128

I think is the TO touch the mike or sort. I think I did say the TO cabin looked like having 2 levers might be wrong in the sense that one of them is actually a mike. (Microphone)
i got a question, since there is a morning crossover at jurong east then to pasir ris. that means passengers will not alight at jurong east mah since the train will terminate at pasir ris instead. why not since passengers are going towards pasir ris, i see no purpose stopping at jurong east. i think it should just skip. if passengers want to go jurong east, they should take the next train to jurong east instead and will ease the load that who are seriously going to the east.

Remember when the changi airport through service when it was initially opened? That time, people complained that it's causing a lot of confusion for the commuters as some trains were bound for pasir ris while some were bound for changi airport. Because of this and some other factors, the through service was eventually scrapped and is replaced with the current shutter service.
So what you just suggested is going to make history happen again; People heading to Joo Koon will complain as the train will skip Jurong East, depriving the chance of those who wish make a transfer to a Westbound train. People here generally don't like drastic changes or some wierd arrangement made in the train system.
Fellow forumers can feel free to correct me if I am wrong anywhere.
Just two short questions:
Yesterday i took a C751b ride from Jg East - TNM..while @ Tiong Bahru,b4 the train moves off,it makes a steam-like sound(this sound can be heard when a bus make a stop)and thru the tunnel journey,it continue to make this sound..
May i know what is it??

its air preassure.. unlike C151 and C651, its uses spring leaf..
try to take during Peak Hours, from Lavender onwords (west bound) and after Jurong East, when train moves, the train get bumpy..
if C751bs, its used air preassure become steady, like Scania KUB...
Why everytime when arriving COM (To Eastbound)
*Ding Dong* . . . *Ding Dong*, Commonwealth. Every trains is like that.

it dont make sense to skip a station.. especially during peak hours!!! it will be very near to the train in front. also, there will be people who will want to alight at Jurong East..
why not propose alternate trains will skip stations like Newton, Braddell, Commonwealth etc?
anw, fyi, abt 95% of passengers, who took the through train mostly boarded from Yew Tee, dont alight at JE. the train already super packed to the door when it calls at JE.. dosent really ease the load at all when so few people alights at JE
