The C151 you've sat with the refurbed plate and the manufacturer's plate is 089/090, a special C151 as it is the only one with a refurbished, refurbished floor, special PIW stickers and builder and refurbisment plate and that is an example of a refurbished C151 . Currently, all trains with the STARIS system and the VFDs(The scrolling text display in blue font) are refurbished. The C151s are the only trains with STARIS, and all have completed refurbishment by 2009.
There are two kinds of the black-and-red train, the C151 & the C751B. The C151 used to have a white exterior, but since reports from the public about dirt trapping, SMRT painted the train white. To solve the problem once and for all, SMRT pasted a black adhesive over the train, giving it a similar look to the C751B, which is currently the newest running stock in EWL, NSL & CGL.
So, how to distinguish the C151 and the C751B? Other than distinguishing them via the STARIS system, another way is to check the interior seats. For the driving car on both ends, a C751B's seats are pink in colour while a C151's seats are red in colour. Regardless of whatever car you are in the C151, the end two seats are darker in colour.
Another thing is to spot the Train Run Number display. This is particularly important to distinguish a C751B from a C151 from afar in an underground station. The C151 uses roller blinds while the C751B uses an orange LED EDS.
The C751B's head is tilted while the C151's head is straight.
Hope my reply plus Samuel's reply was a help to you.
Just a simple add-on, C151 Door Frame is white while C751B is Brownish due to its long service.

C751B frame is painted black la
If I'm not wrong, 101/102 is going to get a manufacturer's plate and refurbished plate same as 089/090, now it's in the shed in BSD.
341/342 is upd or cgd?
Originally posted by Samuel Lee:Only C151 trains, a newly brought in 1980s, have gone through refurbishment.
Other trains in EWL / NSL such as C651 and C751Bs are the newly brought in 1992 (In Service 1994) and 1999 (In service 2000 - 2001) respectively. (Timeframe should be there) However, the C651 (White colour one), will be the next to go for refurbishment, which can be as early as 2010 (Minimum earliest SMRT would ever consider) to more likely 2015 (My speculation based on the number of years served). No details for such from SMRT since.
All other lines (NEL, CCL, DTL etc) rolling stocks are brand new one.
Thanks for the replies...
i tink i phrase my sentence wrongly...
All trains in SG are bought brand new coz i CCL,NEL trains being delivered on trailers when they exit ECP and lumber up Still Rd with CErtis Cisco escort...
Which depot does the last KRJ bound train go to?
I think is UPD, unless UPD got no more space

I think is BSD instead, because, if they were to go to UPD, for what ****** reason why they dont complete the whole NSL instead? Futhermore, between Kranji and Yew Tee, if I am not wrong, got crossover.
Anyone know today what happened on NEL? A lot of commuters complaining..

Delay for about half an hour. Signalling problem apparently.

So is this a fault of CBTC system, or pantograph system being "unreliable" (there was a post by someone else citing a pantograph system is expensive and unreliable).
Which train was involved, and so immediate send back to SKD?

I think SBS works badly than the SMRT... SMRT much more better..

SBS VS SMRT
SBS: SMRT:
1) A Sv51 bus broken down 1) CCL1 and 2 operating on 17 April 2010
2) NEL train fault again 2) Released some Alstom Metropolis C830

Should have expected such a comment from you judging from your nick.

Dont be lame, look at facts:
SMRT:
1 bus got fire on CTE
2 trains collide on Clementi and Phoenix (By the then SLRT)
A train overhaul car stuck on Tampines - Simei
SBST:
6 bus kena burnt on AMKDEP
No trains collision on SK/PG LRT. No similar train crashing in NEL either
A pantograph broke at between Outram Park - Harbourfront.
To me, neither is so good and there are rooms for improvement. Or else, they can become "SMLJ" and "SBSL" respectively. (Not nice to spell in full)

SBS 1) This is Singapore Trains forum. Btw the bus crashed, not broke down.
SBS 2) So you're saying BPLRT never had train faults? Joo Koon Extension never had train faults? I have photo evidence if you want btw.
SMRT 1) No link. Handover and opening is decided by LTA.
SMRT 2) Another no link. LTA buys everything, constructs everything, then tender contracts out.

So you prefer SBS?

Actually it's 1 catenary wire which kinda got loose and fell, breaking the electricity circuit to put it simply. Pantograph is the thing sticking up from the train touching the catenary wires.

I think he is looking things objectively.

My stand is the same as Samuel Lee's, minus the acronyms part.

O i see, I always cant spell the catenary wire.
