1) Exactly how much does a Siemens Train cost as compared to a Kawasaki 3rd generation train? What about the cost of a Kawasaki 1st generation train?
2) Were the Kawasaki 3rd generation trains modified to actually have a larger standing area? What about the NEL Alstom trains?
3) How many spare trains are there for the NSL, EWL and NEL respectively?
4) Which depot controls which NSL or EWL train? -

Meaning in layman's English would be...??? I assumed TC = Train Crossing, NW499 = NorthWest 499, not sure 'bout the entire statement though. -

2) No. they were purchased with already 7 seats per row... wider seats, shorter overall length for the whole row of 7 seats. NEL seats are similar. 3rd gens are the 1st batch to acquire the new concept of wider seats and NEL followed suit, followed by the refurbishment for 1st gens and later CCL train sets.
3) off-peak timings there are 20 trains running on NSL, and 20 or 21 running on EWL. there are a total of 106 trains, including 3rd gens and excluding cash train carriages. the rest are in the depots. u do the math
oh and NEL ones i'm not sure... i dont really like training on NEL personally... sorry
4) i wouldnt say 'control'. it would depend on the needs of the train as different depots have different facilities. changi and ulu pandan are mainly storage and BSH depot is the main maintainence... erm i think there might be a fixed schedule on which trains cross over from NSL to EWL but i cant prove it yet... -

The news reported that it's due to soil erosion. My train passed by Bt Gombak and Bt Batok Stations just now. The train was travelling very very slowly. So slow that there's almost no noise from the train engines/brakes when they enter/leave the stations and when travelling along that stretch. If I didn't see wrongly, the soil erosion should be at the second tunnel on the left, when travelling from Bt Gombak to Bt Batok. It's now covered with canvas sheets, and an escavator is parked there. -

What does it mean by:
For 12-car push-out or haul-out operation, confirm rescue train has coupled to defective train before releasing service brakes. -
means when there's a breakdown train that cant move, they deploy another train to push/pull the disabled train off the service lines to depot...
thus there's 12 cars in total... the rescue train has to be coupled to the disabled either at front or back depending on push or pull-out, and release brakes so the the tow can be started? sounds kinda straightforward...
