Who needs to know where the doors will open when the train has arrived at a station DUH, but what about before the train arrives at the next station (when the train departs the previous station).
Imagine being stuck in the middle of the train and wondering at the next station which side the doors will open, only to go the wrong side and have to frantically run to the other side when the doors open, during peak hour traffic.
Its pretty much becoming standard in the world (for systems that have extra budget to afford this). For a system claiming to be world class we certainly lack in passenger friendly features (in general, not just to say this doors open on this side feature). -

It's 4 trains per month. I can remember clearly that SMRT did mention it last year. Maybe they have manpower shortage so the refurbishment process is much slower.
And I am very sure 007/008 will be the train for April when it is coming out for service. -

2nd-generation Siemens train: Stainless steel construction

Today sure no wrong. Train 080 is refurbished. I saw the train at 6.52am today.
But train 080 is like some temp train to me... on some days it's a 1st gen train, some days 2nd gen, then like today, it's a refurbished one...

To clear all this miscleanancy, I've got the opportunity to interview the refurbishment project manager during the SMRT Open House. He said that each train will take at least 12 days to finish. They refurbish 3 trains at a go, so it would be slow. Now here's the list:
Current fleet:
3005-3006(RD), 3083-3084(RD), 3001-3002(RD), 3021-3022(?), 3035-3036(RD), 3003-3004(RD).
Notes: (RD)= Regular Duty, train operates in off-peak
(Test)= Under Trial
(?)= Not sure
Expected Trains: 3007-3008, 3027-3028, 3025-3026
Well, the first 3 trains operates on route number 051 and 074(evening peak) I saw 3003-3004 at Jurong on Friday but pity, missed it. -
Yesterday i saw 007/008 refurbish on test @ toa payoh.
