Nice information you've got there.Originally posted by tintinspartan:To clear all this miscleanancy, I've got the opportunity to interview the refurbishment project manager during the SMRT Open House. He said that each train will take at least 12 days to finish. They refurbish 3 trains at a go, so it would be slow. Now here's the list:
Current fleet:
3005-3006(RD), 3083-3084(RD), 3001-3002(RD), 3021-3022(?), 3035-3036(RD), 3003-3004(RD).
Notes: (RD)= Regular Duty, train operates in off-peak
(Test)= Under Trial
(?)= Not sure
Expected Trains: 3007-3008, 3027-3028, 3025-3026
Well, the first 3 trains operates on route number 051 and 074(evening peak) I saw 3003-3004 at Jurong on Friday but pity, missed it.
Hmm... you ask me, I don't know.Originally posted by Oceane:I saw it yesterday once... wonder how so many people got confused with 079/080.
Ask the south koreans. I'm from the north.Originally posted by Oceane:Nice information you've got there.
I'm only sure that 027/028 is undergoing refurbishment as i have eliminated all other trains that I've seen and only 027/028 is still on my list. 027/028 has been brought out of service ever since the ending of the Open House @ February 2007.
November 2006: 005/006
December 2006: 083/084
January 2007: 001/002
February 2007: 035/036
March 2007: 021/022
April 2007: 003/004
May 2007: 007/008 (Confirmed, saw it on test runs this week)
June 2007: Probably 027/028
But the main problem is, the rate at which trains are undergoing refurbishment is too slow. Maybe if you have got the chance (since you are able to view the refurbishment project itself) just try to inform SMRT that they are really falling back?
EDIT: The manager himself said 12 days per train. How come it is at 30 days a train? Care to ask him again?
1 month = 1 trainOriginally posted by tintinspartan:Well, I could rule out this: The Manager said it's 12 days per train. Probably, they just like to undergo more tests. I'm not sure wheter they would finish the whole thing in 4 years? That's long. But, i'm sure he did say that they will finish by 2008. This project is going so slow, By Blue Blistering Barnacles!!!
Well I only managed to catch test trains in the tunnels where the lighting isn't very good, my apologies. But, isn't there supposed to be a working team and a testing team? Don't tell me that they do everything.Originally posted by tintinspartan:I swear I see this Rotem guy on 3005/3006 during November 2006 when the train is on service 051 in the evening peak.
C151s were manufactured 1986 ~ 1989. Siemens C651 were manufactured 1994 ~ 1995. Well. 8 years to go.Originally posted by C151:Does anyone know how C651 will look like after they are refurbished (plans etc.)?
So far... the gear equipment has been found satisfactory...Originally posted by jetabt767400:Hmm, I guess its always good practice to change the technical parts, and won't that extra weight do bad to the motors?
Might be a good choice to change the gearboxes and so on, increase the accleration and decrease slightly the maximum speed...
Something like 3-4km/h per second acceleration and 75km/h maximum speed, can't modify the motors or you would have to change the entire train...
Few days ago, I still see 031/032 running for service on NSL.Originally posted by Oceane:Updated List

UPDATE: 007/008 IS NOW REFURBISHED. POSSIBLE TRAINS NOW UNDERGOING REFURBISHMENT IS 027/028.
Will eliminate the trains one by one... =)
I don't think 087/088 was Guardian train before. 089/090 was definitely the one which is a Guardian train.Originally posted by tintinspartan:Saw it on 087 at Jurong East on 22nd May. It was new and sastifactory. If you don't know the train before refurbishment, it was the Guardian advertisement train.
Lucky of you to catch that 007/008. I even have not seen 007/008 myself.Originally posted by littlearea:007/008 is now on services as yesterday i boarded it.
Huh? 087/088 is still not under refurbishment, same for 089/090.Originally posted by tintinspartan:Saw it on 087 at Jurong East on 22nd May. It was new and sastifactory. If you don't know the train before refurbishment, it was the Guardian advertisement train.
089/090 is Sony Ericsson W880i advertisement. Boarded it on EWL from City Hall today.Originally posted by Oceane:Huh? 087/088 is still not under refurbishment, same for 089/090.
089/090 was a Guardian Yellow advertisement train before, recently changed to Samsung Red advertisement. ^_^
You know, whenever I see a train in advertisement I can know the numbers of it, even when I'm standing 100m away. =)
How can an EW train possibly have TRNs of 055? EW = 001 - 049, NS = 050 -= 099Originally posted by tintinspartan:It was running on 055. I saw 021/022 on service at EW PM Peak just now
