enough trains???? But ytd i went to bsd at 6pm, there are 5 trains including a 3- carriage train sleeping down there. Looks like they nvr even want to used up all the trains

The only problem now is door arrangement for the PSDs. The cars are trailer cars so there's no motors below it. The lower deck is squeezed between the bogies. Of course, this will lead to a lower roof for both levels but hey, you carry twice as much people. (:

We gotta get a new CEO first.

I heard that if the H1N1 situation gets worse, peak frequency will be reduced to 4 minutes?

lol why not current CEO? convince the transport minister first la lol.

Since our transport system is based on monopoly (unlike HK with competition from buses, MTR, trams, minibuses) , consulting the transport minister will not do any good since he can only give advice to the company. It is ultimately the company's decision. Anyway, do you think she takes her own company's transport for commuting? We'll include even the company car(s) if any for that matter.
This only works on buses when LTA decides to take over the planning of the bus routes. But when, I don't know.

Probably doing some maintenance work or STARIS installation in progress, I don't think they will purposely leave train at depot during peak hours.
here in the Netherlands they also have DD trains, but it's different.... because in Singapore you have a subway/metro. DD trains are not good for a subway because trains need to stop longer. Here in NL the DD trains are only used for transporting passengers to another city. frequency is like 30 mins - 60 mins.... waiting time at a station is like 1-5 mins!
Wait for all the planned lines to be fully operational.
Two main problem basically if we were to convert two carriage into DD carriage;
-Like what someone above just mentioned, the PSD is a constraint here, as it is already fixed.
-SMRT trains are basically made up of T-M-M-M-M-T, where T are cars without motor and M are cars with motor. If we were to add DD, it will be either DD-M-M-M-M-DD or T-M-DD-DD-M-T. Both are not feasible because the first one will require a replacement of the driver car to a double decker and it conflicts with the emergency evacuation system we have (exit at end of the driver cab). The second one is also not feasible because it will means that the train will only have 2 motor to move itself instead of the usual 4. This means that the train will be "underpowered" and will have difficulty climbing slopes and accelerating during peak hours.
Looking at the height of the tunnels here, i dont think we can stand in the DD trains if they are introduced here. The capacity of trains would be reduced instead of increased. Pple will also tend to cluster around the steps and not move in, just like what happens in the single deck WAB buses.

Yup, no standing. Either that or standing only allowed on the normal deck. But the seating configuration will not be like the current one with seats facing each other. For this coach, the seating will be either facing forward or backwards so the capacity for 1 coach would be like... a current DD bus.
so DD Trains possible?
Gotta makesure the doors fit into the 1st and 4th door of each car for the PSDs and eliminate the 2nd and 3rd doors. It is possible but not necessarily more convenient.
Do note that the pictures I posted before are Green Cars. Like 1st class compartment on Hong Kong's East Rail Line.

Only one car. Besides only 1 door open for that.

Double deck cars will have 2 doors. If we do have DD cars, not necessary to form another class of seating. Just the current plastic ones facing forwards and back will do.
This thread is super going off-topic.

I guess the user who posted this knows what series of train this is but since I do lots of Japanese train research, for the benefit of those who do not know here is a short description:
First train (in JNR 'Shonan' colors (湘å—色)) is a サãƒ124・125 carriage. Built in the JR days, it acts as a Green (First) class carriage, coupled JNR Series 113 (国鉄113ç³») rapid train train services. It capacity is 90 passengers.
Second train is a JR East E217. Double deck carriage is the same as the first one, but in newer 'Yokosuka' colors (æ¨ªé ˆè³€è‰²).
There are few T (trailer) control cars (Tc) that come in double deck form in Japan, but the following is a good example:
JR Shikouku Series 5000. This is a reserved seat carriage with Green seats. Serves on the Marine Liner rapid service.
Double deck Shinkansen trains, leave it to your own free time to search upon bah...

I observe that the frequency of the train that comes during the peak period is 1 train per 3 to 5 minutes. The fastest is also 1 train every 2 minutes only.
I am thinking why can't they increase it to every 1 minute come 1 train. Like that it won't be so crowded inside the mrt.
Expect to see mrts' crashes then...
If increasing frequency can make more money, then yes, it will be done.
