Yamanote Line Inner-Loop (Harajuku~Shibuya)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sahYnsX9QT4
This video shows you how it look like to travel in a Yamanote Line train. Notice that the train travel at the fastest speed it can go at it's section, which is around 75km/h. Train enter station at 65km/h due a curve right before the station, in which the train brakes automatically according to the ATC restriction. To those who think this train is driven in auto due to near-perfect braking sequence without releasing brake, sorry to disappoint you but this is driven in full manual mode.
Yamanote Line Outer-Loop (Yoyogi~Shinjuku)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuezEjYDSFs
This video shows you the in-train announcement when approaching Shinjuku from Yoyogi in a Yamanote Line train. Shinjuku station is an extremely big and busy station serving at least 3 million passengers daily with over 200 exits and 38 platforms in total! (22 above ground and 16 underground). The train map shown in the train only consist of the JR East portion, excluding the rest. Note that there's two LCD above the train doors, one is the train status information and the other is used for advertisments.
Motor sound of 2 different train coupled together (8+4 car configuration)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmzg7F58Tsk
For the impatient ones, please fast forward the video to 1:40, where the main point is. Notice that when the train arrive, you would hear a familiar motor sound also found in Singapore (Except the one in the video sounds many times more fantastic). Then suddenly you'll hear another motor sound which is completely different!
3 individual train coupled together in revenue service (4+4+4 car configuration)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh8Wmmq3DkE
Notice that the train is a pretty old train? Yes it is! This train has been in revenue service since 1959. Though it look old, but it's condition is still in top notch! This video is taken in the morning rush hour, which explains the crowd at the platform. The first 8-car which has been coupled together as 4+4 car configuration arrives and shortly after, another 4-car train follows and couple with the first 8-car to form a 12-car train. As an additional information, all cars in this train are motorized. Meaning it's in a 12M0T configuration. Though it's "fully motorized", the acceleration of the train is still pretty slow at 90km/h upwards (about 1km/h/s) as it's using an "outdated technology" motor and each cars weigh about 35,000kg! This train is designed to run at 120km/h though it runs at 110km/h max during revenue service. Trains on this line runs on standard gauge like our MRT lines but runs at a max speed of 120km/h including at road crossing!
