Regarding this, I think it is possible.
So as to consolidate LTnF1fan's post, on the second thought i think the middle track can be use for this purpose:
AFAIK, I am still not very sure the PYL's track diagram, hope I can see it soon.
But, what is known from Wikipedia is that Promendae will not have a middle platform, and it will interchange with DTL as well as Marina Bay Extension, the well perceived of inital Circle Line Stage 6. Since for CCL part, Promenade will be a normal station, and unlikely any station between Promendae and Paya Lebar can be used for terminus like LTE or sort of (As least for Paya Lebar - Nicoll Highway sector, remember I sneaked there before?), I think it will be an extra track for the time being and until the Marina Bay Extension opens (Promenade, Bayfront and Marina Bay) in 2012. U can claim that it can runs through to Harbourfront, but I think there wont be sufficient train for peak hours (Remember the CGL - Boon Lay direct?). Please I dont think it can go Dhoby Ghaut based on the line alignment unless they allow reversing (And if this also can, then why must they Spanish Solution in Yishun peak hour train?)

Got error.
apart from this, there is also an error at Esplanade Station. They realised it, and they used a piece of paper to cover the error, with the correction done on that piece of paper. Don't tell me its gonna stay there for....

Unfortunately, I did not archive it. This is a result of SMRT demanding a delete of such "malu" Stomps. Anyway, it seemed that they are going to correct it and thus this post / stomp shows "no relevance" liao.
CCL Note: From today on, all CCL trains in service will NOT move towards Bartley TBS. Instead it continues on to Dhoby Ghaut.

a lot more trains have to be commissioned to run the whole length then even if its empty for two-thirds of the journey.

Promendae layout is unique cross of the old , structurewise of the station is very similar to the present CTH station of the NS/EW line
however it function would be much different from CTH
since it can also function something similar to Tanah merah station since it is also one of the stations in the CCL extension, Based on the map one can see that theres 2 branches there, only station close to that function it tanah merah station, but it does not have an additional line to interchange with beside to tampanies and Changi airport.
in short whati expect might be a interchange for not only DTL but also to CCL marina bay where Promendae is one of the terminus point.
btw can someone update the wiki on promendae station?? the CCL is top/bottom format, not side by side, therefore DBG side would remain top but HBF side should go to bottom on same side as DBG

actually there are 3 areas with fare gates, 2 at the both ends of the CCL councourse and 1 more area where the present EW faregates might be shifted to face CCL PYL.
a little OT here but it concern abit about Promenade station.
From the Wiki:
As a result of the Nicoll Highway collapse, the LTA decided to shift the then proposed future southern terminus of the Bukit Timah MRT Line (now Stage 2 of the Downtown Line) to this station instead of Nicoll Highway
a little error here on the wiki, Promendade, bugis, downtown , chinatown, telok ayer and bayfront are suppose to be Stage 1 of DTL, not stage 2, stage 2 is the streach from Bukit panjang all the way to Rochor. someone please edit it.

it is correct. Bukit Timah MRT Line is currently built as Downtown Line Stage 2. the only thing is that Promenade is part of Downtown Line Stage 1.
