The TO should be able to choose to continue. He/She might be given a few days off (paid leave I guess) so that he/she can overcome this terrifying scene.
The person jump down and died isn't the TO's fault anyway. There's this thing called "human-reaction" and "braking distance". Even if the TO saw it from far and applied emergency brakes, most likely the train would not be able to stop in time.

Raindrops? Passengers? These will affect the performance if they get a sensor. Besides, even if it theres an automatic sensor, the train brakes, but there'll be this "braking distance" as mentioned above, and therefore the train may not be able to brake in time.

They should just install cameras facing the track, which is under the platform where the staff can see if anyone is hiding there, and thereby can stop any oncoming train towards the station.

What if commuter climbed over the PSD and jump over how?
Originally posted by linwei20:Okay, then will SMRT compensate those TO?
Those technicalities I dunnoe lah.
But I am pretty sure that SMRT would not just fire drivers who had to go thru that ordeal...

Yalor..
Even KTM drivers that hit the couple over at Bukit Timah bridge wasn't fired. It isn't his fault. The train inertia is too big for it to stop in time. Furthermore, it's a sharp bend, in the dusk, who would expect people to be sitting there?
That is why I say, they won't be fired, but they will just go through counselling.

I don't think that KTM driver would want to do anymore [Destination: Singapura] runs though...

Don't get fooled. They are still driving.

Driving as in...
He has the option to do up his schedule?
Or the company puts his schedule down for him(and he cannot refuse)?
are there haunted happenings in mrt stations whereby the suicide occurs?

Haha.
Drivers are on schedule. Every week, their duty roster change. Not everyday they drive, I think abt 2-3 days break for them. They can't choose. Is the department who chooses for them.
Normally after going through such an incident the company would let the driver have some time off, means leave days until he can come back for work. They would also recommend the staff to go through psychological counseling before they are deemed fit to resume work.
Above information is a few years back from a staff.
another inconsiderate fella taking his own life. if one jumps on to the track and dies, the body will be like a road block and all the trains heading towards pasir ris is affected. likely it is in tanah merah, at least have 3 tracks.
so juz do like in the past loh, one train goes to pasir ris, then the next one goes to changi airport consecutively. juz that mrt needs time to co-ordinate this.
smrt should quickily half-height platform screen doors to all these above ground mrt stations. so at least it will be harder for people to jump. at least the commuters there can help to pull back whichever idiot who wants to commit suicide on the tracks...
Tourist arrives at Tanah Merah via CGL after a long flight and expects to rest on the MRT to the city. At Tanah Merah, "First impression".
From the 2nd picture in the thread provided, the TRN looks like "8" to me (2nd digit. 1st and 3rd are blank).
So, the train most likely to be involved was 117/118.

I know why it cannot show clearly the TRN / car number.
1st: To prevent people from buying 4D / Toto. (All Train car got 4 digits and Toto I can buy 11, 17,18,01,02,03 IF the involved train is 117/118)
2nd: To prevent people see that train again scared dare not board cause it is a "Haunted train"
3rd: I believe after the corpse removed, the train went to depot. We shall see which train MIA long long one then we can conclude it is the one. (In CHD, obviously)

Please dun be lame.
1st and 2nd from ur opinions are obviously not the case. SMRT cares no hoots about people thinking the train is haunted or pple buying 4D with the train number.
And 3rd, the train can go for a wash, a semi-thorough inspection, and be out for service by the next morning.
What's the cause for the suicide?
