SC14/CC9/EW8 -Paya Lebar
Actually, I think that there should NOT be a straight line line(or watever u guys call it) Why? Look at the line above the straight line. It is the Downtown Line. One of its purposes is so that there is easier connection to the EW line at Bugis. If there were to be a Straight Line Line, it should be reangled to stop at Serangoon area,as it is connected to the Circle Line. Serves Toa Payoh/AMK area as well. What do you think?
Samuel is right. His vision of the Holland Line is mostly correct. However, i think that the line should curve to Beauty World before continuing to Bukit Batok East(maybe near Yusof Ishak Secondary School?)That way, commuters can get to the West from Upp Bukit Timah faster.
Originally posted by alstom metropolis:I think it is gonna be impossible.SBST is gonna make a darn (censored) loss.Just looke all the bus services that serve those districts.(West coast etc)
Secondly,There is really no need to waste money on this when a bus service can suffice. If this were to repeat itself i think SMRT & SBST are gonna have to withdraw many bus services that are going to be affected.
My last reason is that i just don't see the need of spending a billion bucks on constructing a new line.Even LRT is okay.Building an LRT system is cheaper to run=cheaper fares.
And i am saying this even though i live in the west.
but in some sense buses are cheaper to operate and more flexible.
But it's not for MRT, it's fixed and e ultra long term investment. So you must have a catchment for ridership.
Not only tat I urge many to stop thinking of MRT lines everywhere for e sake of having one. You build here and there like at Bt Batok East Ave 3..
I asking your for this fantasy, where are you going to find e land to build, and after which land need to accquire for e station?
Reality is harsh, MRT will never be everywhere
you keep on building MRT everywhere, where are u going to find land for recreation and so on? And you sure you willing to pay higher fares for 1 low ridership line which could be cheaper to serve by collective pool of bus svs?
it needs a balance.

Suggested
Old Choa Chua Kang
Or Cemetry
Lim Chu Kang MRT station,in my case is located in southern LCK.

I wonder what they gonna call North shore Line...this going to get really confusing though.

North Shore Line runs on the perimeter therefore called Perimeter Line
PML
My re-re-edited suggestion for WRL:
Stage 1
WR1--Lim Chu Kang Terminal
WR3--Nanyang
WR4--Westwood
WR5--Pioneer Interchnage
WR6--Jurong Park
WR7--Corporation
WR8--Jurong Lake
WR9--Chinese Garden Interchange
WR10--Toh Guan
Stage 2
WR11--Jurong Town Hall(shell station, will not operate during service.
WR12--Teban Gardens
WR13--West Coast
WR14--Pandan
WR15--University
WR16--Kent Ridge Interchange
WR17--Queensway
WR18--Alexandra
Stage 3
WR19--Redhill Interchange
WR20--Mount Faber
WR21--Telok Blangah Interchange
WR22--Keppel Terminal
Actually it would have terminated at Kent ridge.
WR2 is reserved for future use.
Hope rolling stock is from Alstom, hope line colour is purple on system map.
I don't think can name it Western Region Line. Even if that's the case, name it as separate - Holland Line, Lim Chu Kang Line and so on.
If that's the case then maybe:
Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3
Stage 4
Guys, what's with all the Lim Chu Kang stations? There's virtually no one there that would ever need a direct MRT link.

to serve workers and military people there. Depot I think put at the big land east of Lorong Danau (opp 201 Squadron).

Yes, how many? A 100 people? It still doesn't justify building a station in the middle of nowhere. It's as good as that station in China connected to a dirt road in the middle of a farm.
Anyway, I decided to split my idea of a WRL and a Holland Line, so this is my new plan for a WRL:
WR1 - Nanyang (In the NTU campus)
WR2 - Bahar (along Jurong West Street 25)
WR3 - Jurong West (Intersection of Jurong West Avenue 2 and Corporation Road)
WR4 - Corporation (Intersection of Boon Lay Way and Corporation Road, virtual interchange with Lakeside)
WR5 - Taman Jurong (Near Jurong Stadium, along Corporation Road)
WR6 - Jurong Port (Along Jalan Terusan)
WR7 - Teban (Intersection of West Coast Road and Teban Gardens Road)
WR8 - West Coast (Along West Coast Road, near the Japanese School)
WR9 - Mas Merah (Along West Coast Road, near Clementi Stadium)
WR10 - Folkestone (Along Dover Road, near Folkestone Road)
WR11 - Rochester (Along Dover Road, near ACS Independent)
WR12 - one-north - Interchange with CCL
WR13 - Tanglin Halt (Along Queensway, near Tanglin Halt estate)
WR14 - Queenstown - Interchange with EWL
WR15 - Alexandra (Along Alexandra Road, near Anchor Point)
WR16 - Bukit Merah (Along Jalan Bukit Merah, near Bukit Merah Central)
WR17 - Radin Mas (Intersection of Lower Delta Road and Telok Blangah Rise)
WR18 - Harbor Front - Interchange with NEL and CCL
The line would be dark blue in color.

Nice, i help you split in stages
Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3

There are.Just that our Lim Chu Kangs are all located at different places.Mine is nearer to Nanyang.Remember LCK is a huge place, and on ghost festival/new years etc there are lots of visitors. It is also located near factories/farms.

Train Fan, I think the WRL should be in Dark Blue. Because there's no any Primary colour blue in Singapore MRT System.
Anyway I think the North Western, Sungei Buroh and Lim Chu Kang.... I don't think LTA will build a Station.....

yeps. me too. If they got plan WRL. Very impossible they will built to to LCK, there's no much things there.Maybe in the next 50 years bah when all HDB BTO's will be going to be built there.
Or tell you what, Maybe LTA is hidding a MAJOR MRT extension line called Western Region Line but have not reveal to us yet. Because if they tell, our property prices in Jurong will Shoot up again.
Previously i said ERL, TSL,DTl,CCL benefits east. So maybe LTA is coming up with a very good plan for the west. So let's seat back and relax for the news of another line
There's supposed to be Northern Coastal Line & Jurong Regional Line. But it's shelved off leaving Thomson, ERL & DTL left.
They decided bus is better off than building JRL.

Something BIG coming soon. Big plans for future extensions. Remember govt say investing S$60,000,000,000 on MRT lines?

Tat's why I posted bef.. to add on, your kids never tasted how naggy was it to folk out $3bn back then for MRT.
your think so easy to dig grandfather's acct for MRT here and there.
$1bn for signal upgrade, dun forget e cost for DTL, ERL, Thomson Line + 22 trains + Tuas Extn + NEL/ Sengkang LRT procurement + more trains (on top of 22 in lieu of 100 sec)...
they're costly.
somemore some here still think SMRT is building everything.
If SMRT does BOT w/ $60bn, SMRT will be crying... 30 yrs + interest to pay back man.
Yet non BOT, our MRT sv cmi compared to BOT Taipei MRT.
