The Overall WRL
The Map
it seems very wierd that all the purposed western region line has bypassed NE2 which could be used as a future interchange with the NEL and also 1 of the stations thats very close to the CBD area?
morever, it could be used to alleviate the load on the EWL from jurong east to CBD area as from one can see, theres no direct path from the beyond jurong area , e.g pioneer, boon lay etc direct to CBD area even with the CCL or DTL operational, so for those people living there, it;s like going 1 big circle just to reach CBD area, so they would rather just stick with the EWL till it gets crammed again.
also to note that in the space between harbour front , marina bay , tanjong pagar, theres a space there that might be fesabile for a MRT station beside NE2
for a start. take a good look at the ERL, it is almost runs in parallel with the eastern side of the EWL, so for the WRL, it should be like a mirror of the ERL, except that theres only 1 question, where will it terminate to??, Marina pier? or some station before that?? but a highly likely fixed point for a WRL should it exist would be NE2 which is still missing and not listed in the LTA official map.

As i said in the previous post, Tiong Bahru station may be branched out thru the CBD..But unlikely to NE2...

Ok, extend. [Eh, but 60 trains enough ma? Forget it. Add a new depot in Tuas South? BTW, why dont they build a "MTD" {Multi-storey Car Park, and hence, Multi-storey Train Depot, probably underground version.}]
-> From Haw Par Villa, it goes to:
Alexandra / Depot Road Industrial area (near 90 degree left curve, u think they allow, personally, I doubt this sector will ever built), Telok Blangah Housing Estate - Radin Mas - Bukit Prumei Road, and probably -> Curve back to meet Keppel MRT station [NE2] Ok, so this sounds like "CCL Western version, sort of Old Airport Road areas on CCL Stage 2, parallels to "ERL", which is the CCL 5 and EWL Tiong Bharu - Buona Vista / Commonwealth sections".
My take is, if there a line along Bukit Merah estate in between of EWL Redhill - Buona Vista sector and CCL Stage 5, then it will have to interchange with Kent Ridge instead of Haw Par Villa. These are my reasons:
1: To facilitate people from the West / South-West to get to NUH / NUS quickly. I think more people will go to NUH / NUS rather than Haw Par Villa (Except on festive seasons.)
2: Last time I saw Haw Par Villa was like.... I think there is a lack of space for any possible interchange, not even a CCL version of Newton. (Newton will be interchange for DTL, but that was not planned when they build the NSL in the late 80s.)
3: From Kent Ridge, the line can go straight towards Alexandra / Depot Road and heads to Bukit Merah Estate, but for Haw Par Villa, it would requires a sharp left turn.
However, even if the possible benefits for Kent Ridge to become Interchange, these are some of the difficulties involved when constructing it:
1: Kent Ridge is a "big station", but its surroundings is expressway and NUH.
2: Both Kent Ridge and Haw Par Villa, to proceed towards Bukit Merah, it is likely to involve a hilly terrain.
3: From West Coast / Clementi West St X estates area and head towards Kent Ridge, it will form a "-\-" shape, somehow.
It would like this (Forget about a branching out \ as it is computer's limitation without actually drawing it out) :
West Coast
-------------------
\
\-------------------- Bukit Merah
actually i really favour a line at NE2 keppel, running parallel with CCL 5 and EWL and interchange with one north ( CCL MPS itself is not a very big station too but also interchange with DTL) and from there bend outward gently to the parts of singapore west below jurong east, like the benoi sector and beyond.
if there was to be a 4th line for the eastern half or western half, it would be the remmant holland line for the west and the seletar line on the east.

If there is a 4th line in the eastern half, i tell you, its gonna be S-curve, because...
Downtown Line stage 3 serves the northern borderline of the East Side
East West Line runs through the center of the Bedok
Eastern Region Line serves the southern borderline of the East Side.
Maximum lines in each region :
EAST : 3
WEST : 4
NORTHEAST : 2
NORTH : 2
NORTHWEST (CCK/BBT) : 2
NORTHWESTWEST (LCK) : As many as u want, Lim Chu Kang is big, from Kranji to Boon Lay!
WEST : 3
TOTAL : 16 (excluding northwestwest)

are you considering the seletar line as northeast instead of east?
another thing i am curious : would they merge 2 partial lines into one e.g holland line with seletar? where the holland portion would serve the southen part of western singapore and the seletar would serve the norheastern part of the island.
right now from what i see the southern central part of singapore would have about 6 lines in 2020 which NSL, EWL, CCL, DTL, ERL and TSL., i am unsure however if they would add more to this area since it's anybodys guess but i have a strong feeling that NE2 was the best hint they (LTA) left behind for future use, but not for NEL only but for another line.

A comment:I think OpenBVE editors are gonna make a route based on this Since we have so many ideas. But i sincerely tell you LTA isn't going to make a WRL.

Why not a long linkway that interchanges with Kent Ridge. Integrated Bus Terminal, MRT somemore!!

why must it pass into lim chu kang? there's 975 there wat.
Originally posted by dan474:why must it pass into lim chu kang? there's 975 there wat.
Coz they find it a big area without rail support is weird.
On top of 975, there is 172 in LCK as well. But I dont agree there should be a rail line in LCK, so as to make the area there more "natural" / "utopia" (Escape from urban city / concrete jungles) and there will never has such demands for it.

Not Kaypoh. it's Gek Poh.
see the previous pages, those live in Jurong West will know Gek Poh, those live elsewhere will think is kaypoh
LATEST: LTA has just replied to western region line feedback. He told me the extensions coming up in Tuas, DTL...JEMP....
And they also thank me and the interest in the future MRT alignments and will look into my feedback and see if it is possible to take my suggestions...
hmm.. lets wait and see.. WRL coming SOON
Sure or not? Let's get EWL Extension and all JEMP complete then plan for next WRL.
