this shows a huge gap in our disaster recovery system ....it was caught as quite a surprise to the engineers....
luckily it was a technical issue than a planned terrorist attack...

- 14 Dec 2011: Circle Line between Marymount and One-North
- 17 Oct 2011: North-South Line between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan
- 17 Oct 2011: Circle Line between Labrador Park and Pasir Panjang
- 14 Oct 2011: East-West Line between Kallang and Bugis
- 23 Sep 2011: East-West Line betwee City Hall and Pasir Ris
- 20 Sep 2011: Circle Line between Dhoby Ghaut and Marymount
- 17 Jun 2009: North-South Line between Marsiling and Woodlands
- 30 Dec 2008: East-West-Line between City Hall and Tiong Bahru
- 21 Jan 2008: East-West Line between Pasir Ris and Tanah Merah
- 24 Jul 2006: North-East Line between Harbour Front and Clarke Quay
I am quite surprised as their "income opportunity" have increased after the fare increase and understand that is why there is a "template" for the taxi uncles.
As for the unforseen event, it is will be treated as an isolated incident.

this also implicates into whether the technical staffs, esp. ground maintenance staffs are well paid or not....of course we do know the top is well paid.....

if the system is sophisticated and less susceptible to failures....that would leave with human elements.....the importance of the morale and quality of maintenance/ ground staffs.....

After all the emergency drill performed throughout the years, are we now informed that it is ineffective ?
What he did was approving the fare increase and did nothing during the initial breakdown, denoting them as isolated incident.

Sacking the CEO or the board is not the right solution, neither is fine for the SMRT.
What should be done is to fine the CEO and the top management hefty (equivalent to the loss for SMRT) for gross incompetency and make sure they work and solve the problem.
Fining a corporate is like pinching a statue, no pain, fining the CEO and top management is human, they have to feel the pain with at least 1 year salary for each incident. CEO and chairman will have to pay more. Don't let them resign and go scott free. If cannot pay, jail them. -

Isn't it obvious that a damage over such a distance can only be caused by a moving object which meant that it was caused by a train itself?
We should actually be thankful that no derailing actually occured because the train that damaged the rails likely had a fault, and damage to any part of the tracks can derail the following trains.
