Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines down due to 'power failure'
SINGAPORE: The Punggol and Sengkang Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines were both down on Wednesday evening (Jun 1).
In a post on Twitter at 7.13pm, transport operator SBS Transit said the disruption was due to a "power failure", and that free bus rides were available at designated bus stops.
In an update at 7.41pm, SBS Transit said the lines were still down.
Several members of the public posted about the breakdown on social media.
When contacted by Channel NewsAsia around 7.30pm, SBS Transit said more details would be available at a later time.

SINGAPORE: Light Rail Transit (LRT) services were disrupted on the Punggol line for about an hour due to a power fault, transport provider SBS Transit said on Wednesday (Jun 22).SBS Transit announced the disruption on Twitter at about 5.50pm on Wednesday evening. Free bus services and bus bridging services are available, it added. The operator later tweeted an update saying that full service has resumed on Punggol LRT.A video sent by Channel NewsAsia viewer Naseem Fathima showed passengers being detrained from an LRT carriage that appeared to be stuck on the tracks.Commuter Koh Beng Huat, who was on board the stalled train, told Channel NewsAsia that the lights and ventilation in the carriage stopped working before it came to a halt."There was an announcement (saying) the train service would be delayed for five minutes," said Mr Koh, who boarded the train at about 5.20pm from Sam Kee station towards Punggol station.He said passengers were stuck on board the train for about 10 to 15 minutes before staff members came to their help."The staff members were polite; some passengers helped one another by holding their hands when getting off the train," said Mr Koh.In response to media queries, SBS Transit said full services resumed at 6.18pm, adding that it is investigating the cause of the fault.- CNA/dl -

Commuters frustrated after SMRT hit by 3 track faults in a day
SINGAPORE: Commuters were left frustrated after transport operator SMRT was hit by three train delays in the span of a day, with two track faults occurring on the North-South Line and another on the East-West Line on Tuesday (Aug 2).SMRT first alerted commuters in a tweet at about 8.55am, saying there was no train service between Boon Lay and Joo Koon stations on the East-West Line due to a track fault.Three minutes later, the transport operator sent out another tweet informing commuters to factor in an additional 10 minutes of travelling time between Yishun and Woodlands stations on the North-South Line due to another track fault. Free bus services between the two stations were available, it said.Train service on the North-South Line resumed at about 9.20am, SMRT said, while service on the East-West Line resumed at 9.37am.Later on Tuesday morning, the North-South Line was again hit by another disruption at about 11.40am. A train travelling on the line moved intermittently, according to a Channel NewsAsia reporter who was on board the train. An announcement on the train told commuters to factor in additional travelling time due to a track fault near Admiralty station.In a tweet sent out at 1.26pm, SMRT said engineers were attending to the track fault. Two-hour shutdown of mobile access at 4 Circle Line stations as probe into signal interference intensifies
Commuters on the Circle Line will not be able to use their mobile devices at Kent Ridge, Haw Par Villa, Pasir Panjang and Labrador Park stations between 7pm and 9pm on Friday (Sept 2) evening.
In a joint announcement made at 6.38pm, the Land Transport Authority and rail operator SMRT said the two-hour shutdown was to eliminate telecommunication signals as a possible cause of a mysterious technical glitch that has bugged the five-year-old line since Monday.
"This temporary suspension of mobile communication services will affect commuters only while they are travelling in the underground tunnels along these four stations and on the stations' underground platforms while waiting for train arrivals," the joint statement read.
"They will not be able to make mobile phone calls, SMS or access the Internet during the suspension. Commuters who need to make urgent phone calls can approach SMRT staff at the Passenger Service Centre in each station for assistance."
Software experts from French systems supplier Alstom are in town to assist in resolving the signalling glitch that has caused trains to apply emergency braking several times a day for nearly a week now.
