Roads around Suntec City to be closed for IMF/World Bank meetings

SINGAPORE : Starting from September 10th until the 20th, access in and around the Suntec City area will be restricted when road closures take effect because of the IMF/World Bank meetings.
At least three roads will be completely shut and eight other roads will be partially closed.
Even before motorists drive into Suntec City, they are likely to see bright neon signs advising them which roads are affected by the road closures.
The perimeter of roads around Suntec City will be effectively closed.
Nicoll Highway going to the city will be shut down, starting at the Republic Avenue junction and the portion of Raffles Boulevard between Suntec City and One Raffles Link will also be closed.
There will not be any access to Temasek Boulevard as well.
Ng Guat Ting, Commander, Traffic Police, said: "Certain roads are closed and lanes as well to facilitate security measures as well as movement of delegates. Congestions and delays are expected we seek public's cooperation and understanding to ensure that everyone's security is not compromised."
"For me I think I will park somewhere further a bit so I walk along the road here or tunnels," said one motorist.
"If they can arrange for more public transport and close up these roads and divert people to take public transport to MRT stations, I think it'll be a better alternative," said another.
As the meetings draw nearer, more directional signs will be posted and officers deployed.
Police say the best way to get around is using public transportation but for those who have to drive to Suntec City, it is worthwhile to take some time to plan the route.
They can use websites such as the Singapore Police Force website to help them decide which alternate roads to take.
And on September 1st, pamphlets with maps of the affected roads will be available at selected petrol stations.
The publications are sponsored by Shell, Exxon and SPC.
Some bus routes will also be diverted and some lanes closed on other roads around the city area near Suntec complex.
The affected roads are Bras Basah, St Andrew's, Stamford, Beach, Raffles Avenue, Esplanade Drive and Coleman Street.
And because of the expected congestion, motorists are likely to see a longer travelling time. - CNA/ch -

CARS
Nicoll Highway
1. The city-bound section of Nicoll Highway will be closed from the junction of Republic Ave to the junction of Bras Basah Road.
2. The east-bound section of Nicoll Highway from the junction of Stamford Road (opposite One Raffles Link) will be closed up to Middle Road. Please enter Nicoll Highway from the Middle Road junction.
Raffles Boulevard
3. Raffles Boulevard, between Nicoll Highway and Temasek Boulevard, will be closed.
4. Raffles Boulevard between Temasek Boulevard and Temasek Avenue will be converted to a two-way scheme.
Temasek Boulevard
5. Both carriageways of Temasek Boulevard, between Raffles Boulevard and the round-about will be closed.
North Bridge Rd
6. North Bridge Rd fronting National Library and Raffles Hotel will be closed on Saturday, 16th September between 12noon and 7pm.
*** Lane closures will also apply during the period along roads in the vicinity.
BUS
From Sunday 10pm, 10 September to 20th September:
1. Services C2, 36, 70X, 97, 111, 133, 162X, 502, 518 and 857 will skip bus stop outside Suntec Convention Centre.
2. Services 10, 14, 16, 70, 196, 608 will skip Nicoll Highway. Alternative route not advised but likely to use Victoria St.
3. Other diversions are not known at the moment.
On Saturday, 16 September from 12 noon to 7.00pm:
3. Services 56, 57, 100, 107 and 961 will skip bus stop along Beach Road after Raffles Hotel.
4. Services 7, 32, 51, 61, 63, 80, 145, 197 and 851 will skip the bus stop along North Bridge Road opposite Bras Basah Complex.
Please go home early on Sunday 10th Sept if you're planning to shop at Suntec City. If not you might have to walk back to City Hall like closures in previous years.
SHUTTLE BUS/TAXI STANDS
- Suntec City shuttle buses will continue to operate on restricted roads but will only call at Mango or Carrefour stop.
- Taxi stands at Suntec Convention Centre will be closed. The other taxi stand at the roundabout will continue to operate. Other traffic are not allowed on the roundabout.
- Carpark entrances at Suntec Convention Centre (A) and from Nicoll Highway (D & E) will be closed. The carpark itself and other entrances will be open as usual. So will carparks from neighbouring malls and buildings be operational. -

I heard traffic police got issue 300000 or around that much of map or something related to road closure at IMF, anyone got it?
