The functions of road and kerb markings are as follows:
2.1 A double white line indicates maximum restrictions such as no
overtaking, crossing etc.,
2.2 A single white line prohibits crossing under certain condition,
2.3 A broken white line indicates a permissive condition,
2.4 Kerb markings at bent, junctions and bus lanes are to provide
guidance and alert road users to enhance safety.
2.5 The black and white colour of kerb surfaces are mostly
maintained by LTA. Some other maintenance agencies use yellow and black to
paint the kerbs maintained by them.
