Road Courtesy Campaign widened to include pedestrians and cyclists
SINGAPORE: It is not just the courteous motorist - but the courteous road user – who is the target of this year's Road Courtesy Campaign.
Pedestrians, cyclists and motorcylists are road users too, and have a role in making that road journey a more pleasant one for all.
So this year's campaign, launched by Mayor of South East Community Development Council Dr Amy Khor, is aimed at them as well, says the Singapore Police Force.
During the nine month campaign which lasts until March 2008, road users who are spotted performing courteous acts like signalling early, giving way to other road users and waving to say thanks on the road, will get a goody bag.
The spotters include Traffic Police patrol officers, Comfort taxi drivers and members of the Singapore Bike Forum.
For example - forty motorists were spotted giving way to emergency vehicles during last year's campaign. - CNA/yy
