Heavy traffic expected at land checkpoints during Singapore Grand Prix
SINGAPORE: The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has
advised travellers to adjust their travel plans and avoid land travels
to Malaysia this weekend in view of the upcoming Formula One Grand Prix
in Singapore on September 26-28.
The ICA says it is expecting a heavy surge of incoming and outgoing traffic at land checkpoints during this period.
Together with enhanced security checks, ICA says it is anticipating a traffic build-up.
Travellers are advised to maintain lane discipline, carpool or use public transport.
Singaporeans with valid passports and who are registered with the
National Registration Office can use the eIACS (Enhanced Immigration
Automated Clearance System) lanes at the Bus Halls for immigration
clearance.
ICA says the eIACS facilitates immigration clearance through automated lanes within 12 seconds at no additional cost.
To improve clearance efficiency, travellers should also ensure their
own passports are with them at the checkpoints. Cases have arisen where
where travellers presented the wrong passports during immigration
clearance.
