SINGAPORE: Two flyovers will be built between Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 and Clementi Avenue 6 to improve traffic flow along a stretch of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Monday that they will be completed in the first quarter of 2016.
The flyovers will
provide access for motorists exiting PIE (east-bound) to Clementi Avenue
6 and entering PIE (west-bound) from Clementi Avenue 6.
Similarly,
motorists entering the PIE (east-bound) from Bukit Batok East Avenue 3
and exiting PIE (west-bound) to Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 can use the
connecting slip roads.
LTA said with this new arrangement, motorists will not have to "criss-cross" traffic at the slip roads during peak hours.
LTA
will also widen Bukit Batok East Avenue 3, between Bukit Batok Street
23 and PIE, from two lanes to three lanes in both directions to improve
traffic flow.
Work on the project, awarded at S$35.76 million to Hwa Seng Builder, will begin in November 2012.
