JOSE PLAYS DOWN ANDRADE LINK
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has played down talk linking him with a move for Deportivo La Coruna star Jorge Andrade.
Deportivo president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro had claimed that Chelsea had made an offer for Andrade in August which the Spanish club rejected.
Reports in Spain and England have suggested that Chelsea may make a new move for the Portuguese international when the January transfer window reopens.
However, Mourinho has tried to dampen the speculation insisting it is "ridiculous" to suggest they are keen on Andrade and that he is happy with his defence.
"I have in the team four of the best central defenders in Europe," Mourinho told O Jogo.
However, Mourinho's stance could change if either William Gallas or Robert Huth leave the club.
Gallas is thought to be considering a move away from Chelsea as he seeks a new challenge and the Frenchman is unhappy at being played at full back sometimes.
Huth has also admitted he may have to leave Stamford Bridge if he wants to keep his World Cup dreams alive with Germany.
The powerful defender is unhappy with his current lack of action at Chelsea and accepts he must be playing regularly if he wants to win a place in Jurgen Klinsmann's World Cup squad.
Aston Villa are thought to be tracking Huth and could offer him a loan move when the transfer window reopens in January.
Should either Gallas or Huth move on it could force Mourinho to enter the transfer market and rekindle his interest in Andrade.
Reports in Spain suggest that an agreement has already been reached between Blues owner Roman Abramovich and Lendoiro over a move for Andrade.

COLE SET FOR BLUES DEAL
Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has been offered a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The England international has been continually linked with a move away from Chelsea after failing to hold down a regular place in Jose Mourinho's star-studded squad.
Cole insists he is happy in West London and Chelsea have tabled a long-term contract to keep him at the club.
The player's agent David Giess revealed Cole will sign the new deal at the end of the season.
"Everything is settled, but Joe wants to wait until the end of the season," said Giess.
"At the moment he just wants to focus on his football."
Meanwhile Carlton Cole has been assured he has a future at Stamford Bridge.
A number of clubs are thought to be keen on signing the England Under-21 international, but Mourinho insists Cole is not for sale.
"He has to compete for a place in the side. It's better for him to be here," said Mourinho.
"If Didier Drogba goes to the African Cup of Nations in January with Ivory Coast, Carlton will get a chance."

JOAQUIN'S FATHER HINTS AT CHELSEA MOVE
Joaquin's father believes the time has come for the Spanish winger to leave Real Betis.
Joaquin is currently with the Spanish national team preparing for their critical World Cup qualifier against San Marino, but his father Aurelio feels he has gone as far as he can with Betis and should head for English champions Chelsea.
Last season Joaquin helped Betis win the Copa del Rey and finish fourth in the Primera Liga to earn a Champions League berth, but despite their excellent performances last term, Joaquin cannot expect to challenge for either league or European honours this season.
The 24-year-old was strongly linked with Chelsea last year, and despite rumours linking him with Liverpool in recent weeks, Aurelio believes Jose Mourinho's side should be his son's destination.
"He should leave Betis next year, for his own good and the good of the club, even though people should realise he is happy there," he said, before admitting talks with Chelsea.
"The truth is that everything was done and I don't think Mourinho will forget about him easily," he said on Punto Radio.
Joaquin has previously said that he is happy in Spain and is unsure about a move to England, but Aurelio does not foresee a problem.
"He is the one in charge and Mourinho realised that he didn't want to go to London, but all of that can change," he said.
"Mourinho really likes Joaquin."

Since Joe Cole isn't planning on putting his signature on the new deal till the end of the season, there's always the possibility he's in two minds to leave, right?

CUDICINI SET TO EXTEND CHELSEA CONTRACT
Carlo Cudicini is ready to extend his contract at Chelsea until 2009 despite receiving only limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper made only his second appearance of the season on Wednesday in Chelsea's 4-0 Champions League win over Real Betis and is likely to be back on the bench for this weekend's Barclays Premiership trip to Everton.
But Cudicini insists he has nothing prove to boss Jose Mourinho and has no intention of leaving Chelsea just to secure regular first-team football elsewhere.
"I am here, I am not going anywhere. I have a contract until 2008 and we are talking about maybe getting another year," he said.
"I would be stupid and a liar to say I am happy to be on the bench, but I am very happy to be part of this club. It is going up and up, season after season, and the manager needs everyone.
"It was important for me to play but it is about what the manager thinks about me and I know he thinks positive things.
"I don't have to show anything. The manager sees me every day in training and the supporters know me very well after six years."
Cudicini helped Chelsea weather an early onslaught from Betis but was then reduced to a virtual spectator as Mourinho's men stormed to victory.
The Italian's last start was against West Brom on September 24 - which Chelsea also won 4-0 - but he expects to be involved again next Wednesday when the Blues take on Charlton in the Carling Cup.
"I just have to be ready when the manager needs me. I am part of this team and when the manager calls me I am ready," he said.
"I just train hard every day and when I play try to be at my best."

MANICHE CLOSE TO JOINING CHELSEA - Dynamo chief
Chelsea are close to sealing a deal for Dynamo Moscow midfielder Maniche.
The 28-year-old is expected to link up again with Jose Mourinho soon after the start of the January transfer window.
Maniche is expected to join on loan until the end of the season with Chelsea then having the option to buy him on a two-year contract for around £5million.
Mourinho made Maniche captain at Benfica and they enjoyed double success at Porto by lifting the UEFA Cup and Champions League.
The midfielder will provide ideal cover for Michael Essien, who is set to miss at least three games for the club next month when he takes part in the African Cup of Nations for Ghana.
Dynamo sports director Boris Ignatiev confirmed the deal was reaching a conclusion and that Maniche could be heading to Stamford Bridge.
'Talks with Chelsea are still continuing,' he said. 'We are in the last parts of the negotiation. It is possible they will take Maniche on loan.'
The player has hailed Mourinho as the best coach he had worked with.
He said last year: 'He's the best coach I've worked under. He became more of a friend than a boss. I've never seen that kind of closeness from another coach in all the years I've been a footballer.'
Maniche will add pace, technique and shooting ability to the Chelsea squad should the deal go through.

a good mid-fielder should be able to adapt. Just like Essien, he was an attacking midfielder at Lyon but plays the role of a holding midfielder.
I believe that JM will use him in place of Essien who may be out due to suspension and playing for his country in the African competition. -
