Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is seriously considering axing Andriy Shevchenko for tonight's crucial clash with Newcastle United.
The Independent says Mourinho faces the decision whether or not to stick with his struggling �31m striker Shevchenko tonight. He has waited until this morning to tell his players the team to face Newcastle United and, for the first time, it would seem that the Ukrainian's place is under serious threat.
Another lacklustre performance against Arsenal on Sunday, compared with the impact that Arjen Robben's introduction had on the game, has pushed Mourinho close to dropping the man brought in at Roman Abramovich's behest. Shevchenko, who has admitted that he has been struggling to fit in, was also told yesterday that returning to Milan in January was not an option. -

I think he will not drop Shev yet.
However, looking at the width that Robben is providing during Arsenal game when he came on, Mourinho might have a big headache whether to have Robben on during the start of the game.
Normally when he comes in as a sub, his speed and stamina will outlast the defender who has been there since the first whistle. When he starts, his speed and stamina will not be there at the 2nd half.
That is why he looks good everytime he comes on as a sub. -

if he has a lot of chances and fail to score then it means sheva is not performing.
if he hardly has any chance to shoot then how do you expect him to score? the ESPN pundits think that mourihno should drop lampard and let ballack play a bigger role and see if it works. -
When did Shevchenko has got a lot of chance to score? He have to move deep into the mid-field to get the ball and FEED Drogba in turn of him being fed. And you say he has got a lot of chances? Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has shut the door on a return to AC Milan.
The Ukraine international, who could be axed for tonight's crunch match against Newcastle, said this morning: "I have already said it and I'll repeat it, once and for all. I have great respect for Milan and its tifosi, especially those of the curva.
"But I have made a choice and it is not right that, after three months, I could think about retracing my steps. I do not want to talk about this situation again. Enough.
"During these last months, I have chosen not to speak about this on purpose. A person must have time in order to get used to change. Here it is all new: the club, the language, the way to play. It is all different." -

Well. I think either Lampard or Ballack should play the attacking mid-field. Right-mid to Essien, Left-mid to Robben. Defensive-mid to Makelele. That's why either Lampard or Ballack must be dropped. If not either one must play the Left-mid already. -
Either unload him this coming open window transfer or field him in every game,

JM should trust Shevchenko. He came and played in Italy, a total different system in England. At least a year should be allowed till he really regain his form.
