What is going on at chelsea?

in 2004-05 season, the total revenue of Real was 84 million pounds; man u, 50 mill; barca, 43 mill; liverpool, 39 mill; chelsea, 38 mill.
their total wage bill is 108 million pounds!!!
will RA stay there forever?

maybe it is time they do something to correct their image. -
Yes it is rather baffling. But Chelsea's revenue should be more than 38mil pounds. Let's just assume simple calculation.
Ave paying spectator per home game UCL & EPL : 42000
Ave ticket price : 45pounds
No. of Games : 30
Total Revenue : 56mil pounds of which some goes to the visiting team.
We will also collect some $$$ when we play away. Then there are FA Cup, Carling Cup, Franchising, Membership, Prize Money (about 10mil pounds in EPL plus at least 8mil pounds for UCL)), Appearance Fees, Endorsements etc etc etc.
I am confused....... 38mil pounds.....not possible -
isnt chelsea and manu tickets the most ex in england?? somemore both sell significant amt of shirts. but y such a big gap betweent the 2?

cost of paying the players
cost of buying players at a super high rate
cost of mourinho getting fined all the time for talking too much -
manager run away.
Chairman run away.
all the players all gone to other teams already.

chelsea doesn't sell as much shirts as man utd
one mustn't forget that chelsea has been starting their success only recently
and they are not really popular with the neutrals
international marketing wise they still have not reached the level of Real, Barca, United or Liverpool. -

Some of us here are getting confused.
Revenue is not profit.
Revenue is all the money collected from all source of income.
Expenses are all money paid out when you buy things, pay salary and upkeep etc.
Very very simple calculation : Revenue - Expenses = Gross Profit (before tax)
Of course there are other factors such a purchase of assets, depreciation, acruals etc which I will not dwell into.
